iTunes 11 doesn't seem to allow proxy authentication

The editing of plist works for me, however I have to re-do it once a month whenever my corporate password expires. iTunes is the only app I've ever used that doesn't behave properly with proxies. What's annoying is that this has been a problem ever since the first version of iTunes for Windows. It got better for a while and now with iTunes 11 the problem has gotten worse again. I'm just fed up with it.

The problem cleared up for me after I edited the plist file. About a week after editing the plist file, I also downloaded updated versions of itunes (now using 11.0.1.12) and icloud control panel (v2.1.1)

I have not had any repeat of the problems when my work VPN's password changes.

One thing to note is that when I am using my work VPN, I need to enter my login credentials twice when using itunes. I do NOT ask itunes to remember my details.

If you have asked itunes to remember your login credentials then that may be the cause of the problems you have when your password changes.

Thanks, kevwang. Your's was the first entry with the solution that solved this problem on Win7. Delete (I renamed it for safety sake) the keychain.plist file.

For the First time I have found the solution of this problem in windows 7.

I simply pasted the content of this .plist and bingo you know what when I restarted my iTunes, it ask for a authentication proxy password :-)

Also solved the issue, by deleting the file. This also worked on iTunes 12.

The executed procedure was:

1. Close iTunes
2. Go to folder C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Preferences
3. rename file keychain.plist to keychain.plist.old
4. restart iTunes
5. It will prompt for user/pass
6. delete file keychain.plist.old

Hi Guys,

I am having the same difficulty, but I have tried to delete this keychain file and it does not make a difference. I have even uninstalled itunes fully.

There must be another place where this password is saved in a windows box.
