That is pretty obscure but it works from search within an artist, from the lower 'Artists and more' menu, allowing you to sort their work by song, best seller, album and popularity. It's like a hidden layer below the one that doesn't work, but vusually it's the same.

Sort is also allowed from the top level of the store in: Top Songs, Top Albums, Best Sellers, etc., just not when searching for a song across everything. So strange. Good find though. Thanks.

I am so disappointed in Apple these days, the latest iTunes software seems broken compared to the last version (10.7). I am still upset they removed the coverflow feature.

Now today, I happened to be looking for songs about valentines day. I searched for that in the iTunes store using the latest 11.0.1 software. I get returned a long list of songs. I start to go click on the column header tabs to sort by popularity and what do I get? Nothing, no response - the sorting feature has been removed or disabled!

I go over to my other computer do the same thing with the iTunes 10.7 software and low and behold - the sorting feature works perfect!

What in the **** is going on at Apple??? Who is in charge for this latest version of trash? I never complained before and always had the utmost respect for what Apple did. I think they woefully missed the mark with the latest version.

I have left feedback with them several times using the "provide iTunes feedback" option under the iTunes menu, but nothing -- I guess no one reads them anymore. I know there are many, many more people that are just as upset and want Apple to do something about it. Till then, I've turned automatic updates OFF. Still timid about going back to the last version of the software. From what I read, its time consuming and involved to go back to the previous version. APPLE GET WITH IT, AND FIX THIS!!!

I agree. Not sure what Apple is thinking. I too am getting search results that just go on. I searched for Bright Eyes by Boy Zone and got hundreds of randomly arranged results And where is the power search? The browse only works if an artist has an album otherwise it's useless. I tried looking up Boy Zone and there are no albums so I couldn't even bring up just songs. Who has time to to comb through it. I was wondering what happened to the cover flow. Thanks for clearing that up. Hello...Tim Cook, get that search fixed now or we'll use Amazon instead. Tim Cook, one other thing: Does this give you an idea why share prices have dropped? hmmmm.

No matter how I organize it it always stays organized by albums and keeps the same ranking for every song.

Very irritating that one of the most valuable companies in the world, with scads of highly paid genius software engenieers, has still not resolved this, now going on for four months. Apple, if you read these things - I and many others are purchasing less and less music from you! Heading to amazon.com...

Say I have an idea; maybe if we just plug our music searches into Apple Maps we can sort by.…oh crap; now I’m in Bergen, Norway and Genius is telling me about other Scandinavian cities just like Bergen.

This latest issue (sorting) is another ridiculous debacle; maybe Apple can stop having inept committees manage their design work and put somebody who understands the basics of what we users call “computers.” You see Apple; when we “computer users” conduct a search in iTunes Store or on any database, we usually want to arrange the results in a way that meets our needs.

Like in my latest case; I wanted to find every artist that recorded a particular song. In the past when committees didn’t design interfaces, I would search the song title, then I would click on the “Songs” header and the list would be sorted alphabetically by the name of the song. I then could see the name of the song and the various artists that recorded it.

Being unable to sort gets even wackier when the song and various bands share part/all of the same name. Well if anyone in Cupertino wants to see what we are talking about; click into the MP3 Download area of Amazon and do a search. Maybe I’ll see you there because that’s where I’ll be until this latest blunder gets fixed.

Sort is back in 11.0.2! Thank you Apple for listening!!

I still have some nit picks about the display of results being hosed up due to the volume of results and the columns being too narrow to read some of the listings but at least we have the function back. You can also still sort by Apple cultivation by clicking the left numbered column header.

Since iTunes has more than 26 million songs to sort, displaying them maybe is not an easy task...
