I don't think beta testing is at fault. All the concept is wrong.
Normally it should be like this:
A. Decide what exactly we want to do with the software,
B. Make the software to achieve A as easy as possible.
But now, A is completely missing! They simply copied iPhone version because it works so beautifully. Forgot to think about that what you do on computer may be different.
For example, what if you create AAC version of your library for use on iPhone? Before, at least you could create separate playlists for Lossless and AAC versions, and browse them same way as you do with whole library - grid, album list or song list. Now, only song list is available for playlist, how do you browse anything?
They even have lost a concept of Album Art! It is still present in the grid view, but what gets displayed in large format is in fact a Song Art!
What a fail to design software where you need to embed album art in EACH SONG. If you were a student and made a project like this, you would fail for sure.
Because, professor would not forget to ask you the most important question - "What is that you wanted to do?"
