What are your thoughts on the New iTunes 11?

I for one am not very impressed! You lose cover flow, and the ability to resize your album art. Unlike previous versions where everything is not in just one area now your searching over the whole itunes for what you need to do. Its cluttered and instead of just editing one album your stuck at looking at all the other distractions instead of what your trying to edit. What are all of your thoughts on this new itunes?

Someone's probably said this already but I've just opened iTunes 11 and they've dropped the option of seeing your whole Library in the Playlists pane, so I can no longer select easily from my Library to either play a song or create new Playlists. They seem to be concentrating on my "Purchased" items, but interestingly (and I don't think I'm alone in this - as Kevin Spacey says in American Beauty) I also have imported songs from my huge CD collection so they won't appear in this tedious Purchased pane. I'm so sad that Apple have turned into such a useless company. Clearly staffed by nerds who keep reaching for something to do with their time, turning working programs into duds. This is classic Friday afternoon thinking, an horrendous 'upgrade'. Oh and I notice to that there's no spellcheck option now here in this messaging pane. Jeysus.

Why you'd need to open a playlist in a new window is beyond me. Maybe they decided to omit totally useless redundant functions. Sorry about that.

Here's a suggestion for all of you who don't like iTunes 11, despite that it's a clear improvement. Go back to the previous version. Then quit whining. Problem solved.

Thats a bit condescending BopCat.

Just because you obviously love the new version, there seems to be many more than just me that HATE it, you like it - thats YOUR oppinion and yours only.

Have you ever tried downgrading iTunes? It''s not easy or recommended.

Yes by all means add new features to software but allow the users to choose to remove or show the good stuff that you have taken away, dont just simply take it away.

The new update IMHO is a total flop, it is slowly becomming dumb like a Windows app, all the little fancy features like Coverflow and DJ are being removed, this is not good and goes aginst the flexibilty that apple apps used to have.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it always only iTunes purchases that showed up in the "purchased" list?

I have no problem with valid complaints. And it seems there are a few, as could be expected. But "catastrophe"? "Disaster"?

Bopcat has missed the point here. "Purchased" items are usually only a proportion of someones's Library especially if, like me, they have imported their songs from CDs. Not having the whole Library accessible in the Playlist pane is a total nightmare. Nay, a disaster

I HATE itunes 11!!!! It looks so cheap and ugly. Can't believe it!!! I thought that itunes finally would let us user decide another color than the boring grey they always uses. But NO, instead they give us this piece of ****! I Wanna go back to itunes 10.7 immediatly!

Apple please read the discussion thread on all your products, and learn by your horrible mistakes. I've allways bought mac computers and apple products, but Apples arrogance is ******* me off!

Big step back. Agree with most posts but also:

  • Why oh why have they got rid of Power Search in iTunes Store? What a stupid decision!
  • We need to be able to exclude items from iTunes Match. I have about 50 very large files and every time I start iTunes it spends hours and hours and ***** in bandwidth trying to upload them. And it never gets there because it crashes out after about 2hrs! Ridiculous.

What, like Apple has allowed you to do in precisely none of their software, ever, for about the past 30 years? A fact of which you are well aware if you've "allways bought mac computers and apple products", and therefore obviously hasn't bothered you much up to now or you wouldn't have kept buying them?

This thread really is turning into trolling at its lamest.

In my oppinion iTunes 11 is a pile of junk. The Surch doen't work, Cover Flow is gone, contiously useless iCloud windows pop up., ect.

I contacted Apple support and got a friendly guy on the phone. I told him I wanded my old version back and he told me to uninstall iTunes and he send my by mail a link to download iTunes 10.7. I followed the Apple instructions and downloaded it, and what I got was iTunes 11 again. This it totally sick!!!

Why.. you will not understand.

But going back - what a brilliant idea, I am going back to 9.2.1 (10.7 was already enough screwed up/dumbed down).

But wait, does it sync with iPod/iPad/iPhone? Because you will not understand that too, I will tell you - there is absloutely no reason for this sync restriction, only attempt to FORCE everybody to use LATEST iTunes. That is also why next version of iOS will sync with iTunes 11 only.

So, IS problem solved, really?

Becaues it is not a bug/oversight/mistake but concious policy, only counter-force will stop this. There is no need to stop buying Apple products, this company will be dead soon anyway, if we do not stop this somehow.
