What are your thoughts on the New iTunes 11?

I for one am not very impressed! You lose cover flow, and the ability to resize your album art. Unlike previous versions where everything is not in just one area now your searching over the whole itunes for what you need to do. Its cluttered and instead of just editing one album your stuck at looking at all the other distractions instead of what your trying to edit. What are all of your thoughts on this new itunes?

I've just noticed that updated apps on my iPhone don't seem to transfer over to iTunes when I sync it. Is it just me, or could it be yet another really poor move from Apple?

Despite having Mac and i-Everything, experiencing last week's upgrade seriously made me contemplate moving away from Apple. It started with minor annoyances with 10.7 and 8, but then iTunes 11 just killed my confidence in them. Glad to see I'm not alone.

Problem is, where else can you go? The new abortion

that is called Windows 8? Android devices, which have their

on multitude of issues (just check the various forums)?

It seems the entire industry (not just Apple) is so focused on

filling their pockets with money, they figure the consumers will

accept anythng that is put out.

What a mess. Is Apple bothering to test their products before release anymore? It's almost as if Apple has taken on the old Microsoft business model when releasing software and updates. What was once a reliable company that you could count on releasing products that worked, we are now more and more faced with buggy releases.

Just one of my particular gripes with iTunes 11 is importing and editing videos. First of all it automatically sorts the items as Home Videos now rather than Films/Movies. Secondly the Get Info option for editing the particular file is extremely slow to update and respond when working with TV Programmes and paging through multiple episodes from one season of a particular show. Also when watching a TV Programme and after finishing a show in a particular season other than 1, the new interface automatically takes you back to the screen for Season 1 rather than just leaving the season you were watching displayed. Lastly, how can you see additional information for the different episodes in a season? Right now it only shows the episode number and running time.

Its clear that the business goals of iTunes 11 included greater tie-in with the Store and to assist making purchases. All other functions were made secondary. Its great if you want to buy stuff from iTunes Store, but not for much else.

Removing so many features people used makes no sense. Design should facilitate use and a feature should be out of the way unless its wanted, and then readily available. iTunes 11 simply hacked off functionality and features to focus on a company goal that is no longer customer focused imo.

Its one thing to put up with the walled garden that is Apple when there is delicious fruit to be had, but removing the fruit and shrinking the walls just makes it a prison cell.

Windows, Android, et al,have not traditionally been as polished or well designed, but they have always allowed more freedom, and the competing products have never been more Apple-like then they are today. Say want you want about Windows 8, its not NT for sure.

A timely move ;-)

Timely because the Capital Gains Tax rates change next year or timely because you don't like iTunes 11? Apple pioneered the Tax dodging that others use (search for Irish Double Dutch Sandwich)

Absolutely agree with you repsac3 on all counts especially over having multiple windows open. I find it crucial in maintaining (anally, as you said) my playlists and albums.

Why does aplle want to sell expensive desktops & large screens and then cripple the software to make you feel you are using one of their toy computers running iOS.

It beggers belief.

Each upgrade brings more suckage into your computer. It makes itself slower. It adds three or four more capabilities you'll never need. It changes its screen layout in ways that are subtle enough to make you throw your phone at the wall. And it adds more complexity to its ever-shifting syncing rules to ensure the next time you connect your device, you'll have to delete everything and resync.
