What are your thoughts on the New iTunes 11?

I for one am not very impressed! You lose cover flow, and the ability to resize your album art. Unlike previous versions where everything is not in just one area now your searching over the whole itunes for what you need to do. Its cluttered and instead of just editing one album your stuck at looking at all the other distractions instead of what your trying to edit. What are all of your thoughts on this new itunes?

OMG this is so frustrating. I'm sure at some point i'll get used to it but this change has come at the worst possible time and some of the changes are horrible. I want my Album view back where i had Album art on the side column and the tracks listed beside it. so i could see everything at once. how do i get back the option for Coverflow, List view or Icons. I don't have time for this ****. it wasn't broken. it didn't need this overhaul. : (

An excerpt from the looong Tim Cook Businessweek interview: http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2012-12-06/tim-cooks-freshman-year-the-appl e-ceo-speaks

"...the DNA of the company, the thing that makes our heart beat, is a maniacal focus on making the best products in the world. Not good products, or a lot of products, but the absolute best products in the world. In creating these great products we focus on enriching people’s lives—a higher cause for the product. These are the macro things that drive the company. They haven’t changed. They’re not changing. I will not witness or permit those changes because that’s what makes the company so special."

Well, things seem to have changed already - and not for the better.

Step back, Apple! Take another look. Don't just apply some metrics and surveys to determine if enough people found Cover Flow useful or functional. Its effect and appeal go well beyond what such a narrowly slanted survey question might disclose. Its eye-appeal and dynamics continued to be dramatic and fresh-looking even after the half-dozen years that it was part of iTunes. It displays the kind of dynamic movement and visually grabbing quality that so eloquently defined what was unique and so appealing about the look and feel of Apple software. In a word it was quintessential Apple. Please bring it back, at least as an option! It was truly beautiful to behold. I think you have completely underestimated the depth and breadth of its appeal to those of us who use and love iTunes and the Mac.

DON'T forget to send feedback to Apple here :

if enough of us do it we have a good chance of things being changed as it has happened in the past. also spread this across any iTunes related threads you might post in for or against this version

thanks

I just did it...! and eventhough I know it won't change Apple new politics with this software, Ifeel relieved now 🙂.

I'm still looking for an alternative. iTunes 11 is not a premier application and there is now plenty of opportunity for improvement, either by Apple or a competitor.

Look at Songbird, Spotify, DoubleTwist, Floola or any of the others you can find…

The trouble is that it is tough to compete with a free app provided by a massive company, you will loose the ability (or the simplicity) to sync to iOS or iPod's etc. Check out the 'revert to iTunes 10.x' threads if you still need the main iTunes features (The Store, iOS syncing & backup, Podcasts, streaming to other devices…)

I'd love to hear you have found a great alternative, good luck.

I use an external drive for my music and library files. I uninstalled v11, reinstalled the old iTunes 10.7 (found on apple support), grabbed my latest library (previous libraries), renamed to iTunes Library, overwrote the v11 compatable one (cannot open in 10.7 if already opened/updated to 11), opened 10.7. Good to go.

Unmitigated disaster. No wonder Apple stock has lost 20% in the past three months. They are a bunch of bumbling idiots.

How do I go back? Can I uninstall this cl&*%$#@!+k of a software update?

This thing is useless - I don't WANT to spend hours learning how to use this. The old one was fine.

I want to see how many mB each song is, that was easy with the old version. I hate Apple more than ever.

FWIW, iLounge (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php) is conducting

a survey where they have a list of 7 "new" features and one item

"I do not like the new iTunes version at all".

As of this posting, 300 people responded and only 34% like the new

interface and the "I no not like...." category was 37%. 37% is by no

means a majority, but is also not an insignifigant percentage and

should be raising lots of questions with the Apple managers.

What are your thoughts on the New iTunes 11?
