Windows 7
Okay... I have a solution that works for me. I'm on W7 64-bit and I've had this problem with other applications in the past. The trick involves opening iTunes, then opening another i.e. window with something else (e.g. Google) without touching the iTunes window. Go back to iTunes, add the sidebar (Ctrl+S) and the status bar (Ctrl + /), restore and then resize by the usual method of dragging the corners etc. Without interferring with iTunes, go back to the second window you opened and close it. That will leave you with your iTunes window which you should now close. When you reopen iTunes, all should be well. The guidance I read said you should go to file & exit rather than clicking "x" to close the windows, but it worked both ways for me.
I had the same problem (and I am using a 32' LED Screen), what helped me, was to auto hide the Win 7 taskbar and enabling and disabling the Side Bar and the status bar, after that I unhide the Win7 taskbar again and it looked oke.
I had this problem too. I came across this solution for my Windows XP computer :
1) Find your shortcut icon for iTunes (or create a shortcut for the iTunes.exe file).
2) Right-click on the shortcut icon and select Properties. Go to the Shortcut tab and find the Run option; the setting is probably on Normal window, so change it to Maximized.
3) Click OK.
After doing this, iTunes should always be maximized correctly when it opens (with no need to restore and resize then maximize again). Windows remembers the setting, so you should not need to change it every time you turn on your computer. I hope this also works in Windows 7.
A better version:
Try this to bring back the "old" iTunes view
Ctrl + / brings back the status bar
Ctrl + s brings back the Side Bar
Other handy shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + B it will bring back the column browser.
All these keys are under the View menu option .
To show the Menu bar, in the upper left corner of iTunes select the "Show Menu Bar" on the flyout window
That is strange.
The only thing I can think of is display driver or resolution or Custom Text Size
Try to reduce the resolution on your laptop a bit and see what happens.
Note: Custom Text size is under Right Click Desktop
- Screen resolution
- "Make text and other items ..... ")
Please note that in a notebook if you reduce the resolution to an non native screen resolution you get a bad resolution.
So, I will not reduce my resolution definitively only to get the iTunes rigth!
I am noticing that iTunes 11 is a faulty iTunes version with many problems. I have problems downloading my podcasts, etc.
I think Apple will correct this quickly.
I have reduced my laptop screen resoltution temporarily, and tried your suggestion in post #2.
Until now it have worked, I can now open and close iTunes and it perfectly fits the screen.
I will now try to reboot the notebook and wil give feedback.
Thanks,
Jorge
hello,
first I am on windows 7 professional 64 bit. running iTunes 11 for my iPhone 5.
i and others based on looking in support forum have same issue. when you expand the iTunes window the bottom status bar is hidden halfway under the windows desktop toolbar.
The exact same issue is happening on right side of window in regards to the scroll bar literally halfway off the window so it can be used.
Just so there are no questions I am running all resolutions at standard sizes no custom sized text, screens or windows.
that its not a permanaent fix as issue pops up again once you reopen itunes. the only way i can get it to show staus bar and side bar when i open itunes all the time and evrytime is by making it smaller tahn maximum size i leave an inch or two of desktop showing around endge then maximize itunes window.
But to make sure i get it to show status bar and scroll bar again i must resize itunes agin to smaller than full window size BEfore closing. What a terrible coding job for them not to catch this as i see so many windows users complaining of this on many itunes/iphone sites. It never did this in any version I have used since 2007.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and I'm having the same problem with maximizing since I upgraded to Itunes 11. IMHO It has nothing to do with changing or not changing any of the settings in Windows. This is an issue with Itunes. It's only a slight nuisance but Itunes ends up slightly larger than my screen when maximizing and I'm left with clicking the fullscreen button in the top right once more to adjust it to my screen properly. I've never had to make this extra adjustment in the previous versions.
I've now found the link to guidance described above: http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f131/solved-how-do-i-maximize-windows-by- default-159026.html #5 onwards.
Hope it works for you. I've never had any problems with any iteration of iTunes and like many here this was driving me mad.
Cheers
This works!
You know what else would work? IF APPLE PAID ATTENTION TO THEIR **** PROGRAMMING FOR WINDOWS!
This is a stupid fault, and I've filed feedback about it and they still haven't fixed it. I can repeat the problem on all of our work machines, so it's "not just me."
I don't think Apple cares.
PC windows 7 fix for me was to restore down (don't minimise) itunes, decrease resolution in control panel>display which shrinks the itunes window enough to manually resize using corner tab, then restore resolution back to normal and entire itunes window (in restore down mode) should be on the screen.
Although unimportant, this little problem was annoying.
Your solution does NOT work under Windows 7 unfortunately....Still causes problems.
This is STILL an issue 2 years later under Windows 7 x64 using both iTunes 11.x and iTunes 12.x...Are Apples Software QAs really that incompetent that they could have missed something like this?!
