Where is the 'Alert Me' option in iTunes 11?

I can't find the option to 'alert me' or 'follow' an artist in the iTunes store in iTunes 11. I sent an email to support but they didn't help very much:

"Greetings from iTunes Store Support. My name is Aparicio. I understand that you are unable to locate the alert me or follow option in iTunes 11. I understand how important understand the new iTunes 11 is and below I have provided a link that will assist with answering all your questions about iTunes.

Does anybody know how to get alerts for an artist?

Thanks,

Zach

No, AlbumReminder doesn't know when you've added something to iTunes. I've just made it part of my workflow—if I add an artist to iTunes then I add them to AlbumReminder as well.

You can import your iTunes Library xml file to auto add all of your artists so I suppose you could re-import that files at certain times to catch any new additions. That would not work for me because out of 1 TB of music I have a lot of artists in my library that I don't care about following. I think it's easier to simply add artists as you add them to itunes. Takes a few seconds per artist.

But I must say AlbumReminder fuctions far more reliably than iTunes Artist Alerts ever did. I just received a notice at 10:45 am for a album that released yesterday. I rarely received iTunes alerts and if I did they were not particularly timely.

No no, you misunderstood. I'll try to explain it better.

Ke$ha's EP "Deconstructed" came out November 2012. However, iTunes didn't have it until February 2013. I just found out iTunes had it April 2013. This being because iTunes Alerts is no longer working as of ITunes 11, which means Ke$ha isn't even on my alerts, if that even mattered.. So, Album Reminder probably won't do me much good unless it would have told me back in February that the album was now available on iTunes, or does it tell you specifically that an album is on iTunes? Because if I really care about an artist, I know via their Facebook page long before an album comes out the date its coming out. What matters to me as far as "alerts" go is when is iTunes getting it, if not on the CD street date.

I am also a loyal but frustrated iTunes user still reeling about not been able to have multiple window open.

Anyway...

I was confused and disillusioned for months regarding "Alert Me", BUT IT IS STILL THERE, HIDDEN, and here is the solution...

Go to iTunes store...

Select the artist you want alerts for, then if you look below the 'Library' tab, there's a black arrow pointing to the right...

you will know what to do from there... And continue as normal.

Enjoy 😉
