Final Cut Pro X stopped recognizing my external hard-drive events and projects!

Here's my problem:

I transferred a bunch of projects/events to an external hard drive a long time ago and now they aren't being recognized by Final Cut Pro X when I plug my external hard drive into my computer.

1. I don't remember if I just copied the files over to the hard drive or if I used Final Cut Pro X to tranfer them.

2. I have no room on my current hard drive so I need to access them off of my external drive.

3. My hard drive is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

As you can see, my "Toshiba" drive doesn't show up in my event library or project library:

Anyone have any ideas?

After deleting the time machine backups on my external hard drive, it came up on Final Cut X in the event library. I then used a 2nd hard drive to create a time machine backup. Clearly there is some glitch that prevents you from using the same external hard drive to connect with Final Cut X and time machine.

I'm having the same problem with my external HDs. After repairing the permissions on my main disk, when I start up FCPX my external HDs finally show up. But by the time everything is fully loaded, they disapear again. What the?

Any suggitions?

Do you have duplicate events? Post a screen shot of the root level of the external drive.

For me, it was just the presence of the backup files from Time Machine. I simply deleted the folder called "backups.backups,db" from my non-recognized drive. I restarted Final Cut Pro X 10.0.9 and there was my drive in the Event Library.

I was having this problem too, and tried the solutions here... didn't work. :-/

Then I clicked and opened my external drive, and found a little Final Cut-related icon (named "Kendal's Rugged External Drive's projects and events", if that matters). I double clicked on that and it went to FC and opened it all up! It's all back!
