How to permanently delete voice memos from iPhone 4s?

As you can see, I have over 387 voice memos somewhere on my phone, and I want them permanently deleted. I've deleted the voice memos through the voice memos app, and these appear to be all of the deleted voice memos. I tried deleted the voice memos playlist, and that didn't do anything either. This list is shown on the new iTunes.... where you click "On This Phone" when looking at my connected iphone. It's taking up a ton of space on my phone and I don't need them. A majority of them appear to be the exact same voice memo just in there a bunch of times. I can't find a solution anywhere for this.

Also, how can I make sure that any future voice memos don't sync to my iTunes? I can't find an option to uncheck the syncing of voice memos. All of these changes are confusing me.

I just checked, and I do not have voice memos checked in itunes as syncing to my computer from my phone. So why was it syncing anyway? I don't understand.

I called Apple and all they had me do was erase and reinstall my phone. I don't suggest doing this, though. Things were lost in the process, I can't get my email synched anymore. Such a disaster. They said that they didn't know or understand how this could happen, and that was their only "solution".

Same problem here on my iphone 5. Sorry to hear that I have to do a complete reinstall from nothing as I just don't have the time to setup all my accounts again.

Have you tried going to the "Songs" tab instead and delete it from there? Hope that helps!

Yeah, they aren't appearing under 'Songs'. Or anywhere for that matter. The only place they appeared is when I go into the 'iPhone' tab when it's plugged into my computer. And Apple couldn't help me.

Select "Music" from the library (top-left of iTunes 11 or sidebar).
Select "Songs".
Click the magnifying glass on the Search Bar.
Uncheck "Search Entire Library".
Type "voice" or "voice memo" (without quotes).
Highlight all of the voice memos.
Press Delete key or right-click delete.
You will be prompted to move them to the trash.

The thing to remember is that they have to be deleted from Songs/Albums and not a Playlist.

This removes them from the iTunes library on the computer, but not from the iTunes library on the iPhone.

I am also having this issue. I was pleased to see a thread so recent in time. Has anyone found an answer to this other than "erase everything on my iPhone"?

I was having a similar issue and I if I understand correctly, I think this is a solution for others..

in itunes with iphone plugged in, go to summary tab. click "manually manage music.." and apply. Then go to "on this phone tab" and you can actually physically delete the voice memo playlist or individual voice memos. This appears to have finally worked for me..or at least the voice memos playlist doesn't persist under the "on this phone tab" anymore....not sure it made a huge difference in my iphone available space.
