In the upper left hand corner, next to the signal strength indicator, where it once said ATT 3g, it now says Dan 3g! Even when I turn on the wifi it still says Dan. Someone help!

I don't think that's the case. I mean, it could be a SIM card issue but it doesn't matter what kind of phone you have. Because your logic says that 4S should not have the issue, but I have a 4S and I'm showing "Dan". I'm also in the central PA area.
PS - If it is a SIM card issue, then all of the phones from all over would show the network. Apparently it's just here in 717 AND it's mainly the iPhones. For that matter, if it was the old SIM cards, then ALL 3G, 3Gs, and 4's would have the problem but it's just a random selection...so I don't think that's it. I'm not trying to prove you wrong, I'm just trying to think of another explanation.
I think I'm going to just sit tight for a bit. I heard the AT&T store in our area is packed.
UPDATE: Dan is gone as of 12:50pm. Just up and left all by himself. No trip to the store or reboot needed.
Dan is gone for me as well. Took a hike without any help.

My wife and sister's phone still say Dan. That's even after a hard reset.
My iPad however is back to normal and shows AT&T. So it looks like the problem is solved for some people and not others.
Yea my phone still says Dan even after a billion resets but my dads and sisters phones are back to ATT
Update: The #zombiephoneapocalypes is over! Dan has left the building on all phones!
