My Imac is running very slow and I am getting quite frustrated. Any ideas?

There are many, many pages devoted to OS X performance improvement. CMCSK asks some good questions, which we would need answered before providing any guidance. Here is one that you might look at.
Could be a failing drive or a software issue etc.
