Purchases are tied to the Apple ID account that was used to make the purchase or download forever, until Heck freezes over. So as long as apps that were downloaded with an Apple ID reside on the phone whenever they update you will be prompted for the password associated with that Apple ID. The only way around this is to delete all apps that were downloaded with the old Apple ID. If you still want those apps you will have to purchase or download them using the new Apple ID.

That's why you should never get a new Apple ID. If your email changes you need to change the Apple ID to match the new email, not create a new Apple ID account.

So when my internet service provider goes out of business, and my (email address) apple id no longer exists, you are saying "**** you" go re-buy everything??

No, not at all. You do not create a new Apple ID. What you do is change the email address associated with your Apple ID. For example, for years, I had an email address that was xxxxxxxx@earthlink.net. I decided to cancel that account after their customer service stopped being very good. I changed the email associated with my Apple ID to my new email address, xxxxxxxx@gmail.com. Same account, same purchase history. All of the apps, music and video content I'd bought while using the @earthlink.net address is still mine.

Here are the instructions:

Follow them carefully, especially the part about signing out of your Apple ID everywhere before you start. See also this article:

I recommend you read both before starting the process.

All iTunes purchases are tied forever to the iTunes account that was used to purchase or download them. That's why Apple recommends never creating a new Apple ID; instead they provide a way to easily change the Apple ID for your existing iTunes account. As you did not do this the only solution is to delete all downloaded apps that were purchased with the old Apple ID, and repurchase or download them with the new Apple ID. This is true for music also, however if you have the music on your computer you can continue using it; you just can't redownload it with the new Apple ID.

So there really is no issue for Apple to solve. AppleIDs work exactly as intended and as required by consumer law.

More specifically it works as rights holders expect them to work, and as such allow their content to be sold in Apple's online stores.

As much as people like to think so, Apple cannot unilaterally change the way media licenses work to accommodate the users, if they want to continue to sell such content on their stores.

There's nothing as you said that needs to be fixed. It works as it needs to work given media and software licensing.

With that said, Apple IDs can once again be deleted by the user, but all content tied to them will go away along with the Apple ID.

Users can request complete and utter obliteration of an Apple ID at: https://privacy.apple.com/

Its a one way trip. Once deleted it cannot be recovered and all its purchases and iCloud data go with it.

No, obviously YOU are the one who doesn't understand the problem, and there is nothing to fix. If you “did that too” that was a serious mistake. All purchases made with an iTunes store account are tied to that account forever. So you should keep that account forever. It’s easy to change the Apple ID (email address) associated with an account; there is never a need to create a new account. And if you forgot the password for the old account it’s easy to reset the password. If you don’t want to keep the old account in spite of this you must delete all of the content purchased with the old account, then re-purchase and download the apps and music using the new account.

Wipe, the MacBook Pro, reinstall the OS, and then reinstall the Apps and you will not have any issues.

The previous owner should have wiped it according the following support document, so you could set it up as new for yourself.

If they failed to do so, you should do it yourself.

Step 6 is the important one now.

The Apple ID did not get there on its own. You had to log in there at some point, or someone that used the computer logged in to it at some point.

Apple cannot wave a magic wand, and remove Apple IDs simply because you forgot their related password.

The Apple ID had to come from somewhere. Someone had to physically log in to it.

As I said, you will need to wipe the Mac to remove it. Or figure out where it came from and recover its password.

If you go to https://iforgot.apple.com/password/verify/appleid you type in the offending Apple ID, and see if you can recover its password.

Outside of that, you will need to wipe the Mac clean to remove it. That is the only way to remove it.

And how I disable it then!?

You don’t. You cannot delete, or disable an Apple ID. You can just stop using it.

Why do you need to disable it? All content is forever tied to the Apple ID, and Apps that were downloaded with it, will remain tied to it, and will always require it to update. There is nothing to be gained by deleting or disabling an Apple ID.

If you no longer have an Apple device, you can still access iCloud, subscriptions, and music tied to it from other devices.

If you are concerned about any personal info in it, you can remove it from the Apple ID as said above, but otherwise there’s no reason to want to delete it. Should you ever decide you want to return to it, it will be there and functional and have all your purchased content attached to it.

Apps (and music) are associated with the account that was used to purchase them FOREVER. The only solution is to delete the app and buy it again. which is why you should always use an email address that you control, not one that is at the whim of someone else.

Two things to note: Your Apple ID password should NEVER be the password for the email account. And it's really easy to change the email address that you use for your Apple ID. But it's probably too late to tell you this now.
