Purchases are tied to the Apple ID account that was used to make the purchase or download forever, until Heck freezes over. So as long as apps that were downloaded with an Apple ID reside on the phone whenever they update you will be prompted for the password associated with that Apple ID. The only way around this is to delete all apps that were downloaded with the old Apple ID. If you still want those apps you will have to purchase or download them using the new Apple ID.

That's why you should never get a new Apple ID. If your email changes you need to change the Apple ID to match the new email, not create a new Apple ID account.

You also didn't notice that the post you responded to was made almost 7 years ago. Nothing has changed since then.

I could never find a way to delete or disable and old Apple ID, which is associated with a past e-mail address. When I purchased a new iPhone X, a message came up constantly asking me for the old e-mail ID password. The phone was trying to re-load apps from a past account? The only way I found to get rid of the message, was to go to Apple's Recover your Account and set up a new password. I could then add a new password allowing me to sign in under that old account on my new iPhone. Seems like a convoluted way to stop the messages, but it worked.

All purchases of music, videos and apps are tied to an Apple ID forever. If you delete the Apple ID you will have to repurchase any content obtained using that ID. That’s why Apple recommends never disabling an Apple ID, and why they give you an easy way to change the email address associated with that ID.

To disable the ID just don’t use it. If you really want to delete it permanently see this Apple support article—>How to delete your Apple ID account - Apple Support

You cannot delete an Apple ID. You can quit using it but you can't delete it.

Any content that you purchased with that ID will always be tied to that ID, so you have to use the old ID in order to update the apps. You cannot transfer purchases to another ID.

You will have to purchase all of the apps with the new ID now - if you actually created a new ID - and didn't just update the old ID.

You can not delete an apple id, only disable it. Any content purchased or downloaded with a particular id is forever associated with it. You cannot transfer the data/content or merge accounts.

You either have to use both id's to be able to update all the content on your ipad, or delete all the apps associtated with the old one, and download again with the new one. (you will have to purchase again).
