I have MBP 15 inch mid 2012 and I think there is something wrong with it.

My acwake is 0 but whenever I attach/dettach charger the computer starts breefly (2-3 seconds) and then goes to sleep again. It does not matter if I close the lid or I go to sleep from the apple menu.

HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist-orig
HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist
HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.AutoWake.plist

But it did not help. Its the same. Did reset on PRAM & SMC. I did everything that I can think of. Any help?

They don't need to fix the actual behavior when standby or autopoweroff is enabled because we can disable those settings via PMSET and not use them if we don't want them. What they need to fix is the issue where unplugging/pluggin in the AC adapter causes the system to wake up and change modes. That's the unnecessary part really.

I've been reporting it as a bug where the system ignores the acwake 0 setting when standby or autopoweroff is enabled. If they could just fix this part of it, I'd be happy.

Hi!! I have the same problem... I think

It only started when I updated my mac, bought in mid 2012, running on Lion, to Mavericks.

Be careful because before I noticed it overheated a few times, and I'm pretty sure it burned down my logic card.

I went to the apple store and explained that since my update to Mavericks my computer would wake up in sleep mode and it overheated 3 times before I noticed that it would happen when I unplug the charger. After the 3rd time, my computer started to freeze all the time and I would get lines on the screen. Apparently my logic board fried or something and the temperature sensors were broken too. I have a feeling that's because it overheated and was running on sleep mode in my backpack.

I still had to pay 622$ for a new logic board. The employees told me that replacing the board would fix my freezing issues and also the sleep mode problem but IT DIDN'T fix the sleep mode. And two of them seemed to not even believe me when I told them that it was doing that, and only after Mavericks.

So it's all in my head, an update could not possibly create that issue, and my mac fried out of the blue, and it's just a coincidence they said... Very frustrating. I have the feeling that if I had never updated my OS my mac would have never broke and I would't owe 600$ to the bank -_-

This is not a hardware problem, it is Apple's bad coding due to their sometimes careless attitude.

Very recently I purchased two 13" MacBookPro9,2 just before they become discontinued. I need optical drives on my computers.

I have no this issue on my older MacBook Pro's and I have quite a few of them.

This behavior is not just very, very annoying but it is also dangerous because the potential risk of overheating and HDD damage is real.

I simply can not believe that Apple still did not take care of this issue. After so many years.

Come on, Apple! Get yourself involved!

This particular model is the longest produced MacBook Pro ever. There is a reason to put some efforts and finally fix this software issue.

Running El Capitan, Version 10.11.6 (15G1212).
