10.0.7 -- still cannot eject external disk!!!

This is becoming increasingly more and more frustrating, as we watch new versions come and go, with none of them solving this problem.

I use various external drives (HD, flash, cameras, SDHC cards) in the course of my work. Some are my stock libraries with various types of media (SD, HD, QT, AVCHD, MXP, etc). Others are fresh ones, coming from Canon 5DmkII, Sony XDCAM, Panasonic HMC, etc. Flash USB drives are often used to move sync audio, music, etc (AIFF, WAV, etc). During my work, I often need to mount and eject all these various devices. But with FCP, once a disk volume is mounted, it CANNOT be ejected without quitting FCP!!! This continues to be by far the most frustrating feature bug in FCP that persists from update to update.

What could possibly be the explanation for this completely bizzare and irrational behaviour of FCP (holding onto a drive, even though no disk operations are being done)? Is it unrealistic to expect that this ever be solved? Should we write directly to Randy Ubillos about it?

I have never actually connected the camera to the computer, always just plug the card into the slot on the side of my imac. However just connected the camera direct to the computer and imported a couple of files. No joy, same problem could not eject the camera without shutting down FCP.

Thanks for your time on this, its not the end of the world but its just really anoying that I've got to shut down FCP every time I want to remove a card.

David - Thought I'd let you know that I have the same issue when importing Canon 5DmkII MVI movie files from my CF card reader. Post import, the background task is idle and the media is done importing, but I can't eject the CF card until I quit FCPX. Like you, I noticed it and basically closed FCPX to disconnect the card, but it would be nice if I didn't have to close FCPX.

That happens on my MBPRetina latest OSX and next to latest FCPX ver. - I haven't updated FCPX to the most recent relese that hapened last week (XAVC Sony release) which I noticed had a few bug fixes as well.

So you're not alone on this issue. -Stephen
