I need help. I just purchased 11 songs to my MacBook Pro running 10.7.5. I plugged in my ipod classic 30 gig and it said it was synching. I went to Recently Added, which is where the new purchases arrive along with purchased and nothing. The pod has synch indicator.

Went to music on mac and selected and attempted to drag to ipod button. Seemed to move one by indicating a 1 in the far right column, but nothing there.

I read all your information and I am hearing I need to change something in the music speed in order to have in synch with my older pod, or buy new pod and use the old one for a backup?? Not sure how to change the music but think I have to go to Summary Options and change the bit rate, but cannot find in the ITUNES menu.

Please advise thanks so much,

I'm having a similar problem. Ever since updating to iTunes 11 I have been having a ton of trouble with my iPod Classic 120GB. Every time I try to use iTunes with my iPod plugged in, it freezes up and won't let me do anything. I have to unplug my iPod and then force close iTunes. Then, I got a message from Windows saying I should scan and fix my iPod. I was a little hesitant, but I did it anyway. Now, all of my music has been deleted off of my iPod. And of course I'm using a new computer that doesn't have most of my music (around 100 gigs) on it. There are some "recovered file fragments" in a folder labeled FOUND.000, but there is only around 61 gigs in there, even though Windows says that around 112 gigs of space have been used. The folder iPod_Control is empty. Anybody have any idea on how I can fix this? I really don't want to have to try and piece my library back together.

I had the same problem. I just spoke with Apple Tech Support. Initially, we spent hours yesterday going through all sorts of manuevers to isolate the problem. Today, an Apple technicial called from the CPU unit to followup. After speaking approx. 5 minutes, the technician shared with me that she had a similar problem--by changing the cable that connects to ipod and computer, it worked.

I happen to have two ipod classics. The cable I used yesterday in our trial efforts did not work whether pluged into hub or computer. Today, when the CPU unit called to followup, I changed cables, using the secondary ipod cable with APPLE LOGO on USB connection. IT WORKED!!!!! Device recognized; synced without pause. I must also say, that although the first cable/cord I tried using was included with the purchase of the ipod classic, it did not have the apple logo on the USB connect portion of the cable. I hope this will solve your problem -- so simple...Good Luck
