Mac Pro won't connect to Ethernet

My Mac Pro will not connect to the internet, but it connects to Wifi via my comcast modem.

the modem was switched out today, but I couldn't connect before that - which is why they came and replaced my modem.

The lights in the Diagnostics window say:

Ethernet: connected

Wifi: connected

ISP: Fail

Internet: Fail

Server: Fail

Any ideas?

I just wanted to let you know that I had a similar problem as you. My ethernet wasn't working either. What I did to resolve the problem was logging into my router. I noticed that for some reason, the mac book pro was assigning itself an ip that it wasn't supposed to. It had assigned itself an ip address (how, I don't know) starting with 164.x.x.x when it was supposed to be assigned an ip address of something like 192.168.x.x. I believe it had something to do with my mac book pro forgetting that it wasn't using my University's network connection. To resolve the issue I had to change the settings of my router to assign an ip address to the mac address of my nic card. This is more of a band aid solution as it doesn't fix the problem with the mac book itself, but I thought I'd share...
