Iphone 5 and IOS 6.0.2 is draining my battery!

Beware IOS 6.0.2!!

I loaded IOS 6.0.2 yesterday. Unfortunately it only partially fixed my wifi issues (I already have several posts about my wifi issues). But, to my complete and utter frustration, it introduced a NEW ISSUE I was not having before -- it is absolutely draining my battery. I can usually get through a day with about 75% of my battery power remaining. Today I've gone through 90% and I've done nothing special with it.

Come on, Apple! I know you guys have to be reading these posts. You are driving your loyal fan base away. I'm ready to get my money back and switch to Android. The time (hours-and-hours spent trying to debug my problems) and money do not seem worth it any more.

I have had this issue ever since I got my iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0 6.0.1 and now 6.0.2 no help whatsoever. The only way to avoid the drain is to turn off cellular data completely. To resolve this I tried:

1.) Restore to new and use with no apps

2.) DFU restore to new and use with no apps

3.) Exhanged the phone

4.) Used battery and CPU monitoring utilities (they show nothing to explain it).

If cellular is on my phone drains about 1% per minute, period. It's also warm to the touch. This is a serious bug and apple refuses to acknowledge or fix it. Again replacing the phone did nothing to fix it. Also it is not the local cellular network - I have used my phone in 6 different countries and probably 8 different carriers. It's a bug and it's deeply ingrained either in the OS or the hardware.

This forum is so full of guys like "Stevejobsfan" who instead of acknowledging such eggregious bugs just make excuses such as "well it must not affect many people". This is $1,000 phone and it has battery life like a brick phone from the 80's. This is a defective product plain and simple. Regardless of whether or not there are others out there that have perfectly working phones, judging by the number of posts here and elsewhere online we can conclude that there are 10's of thousands if not 100's of thousands of defective phones out there. Many have changed their hardware and still had problems. This is unacceptable and there is no excuse for it. To make matters worse Apple refuses to acknowledge the problem let alone fix it. Apple is a company that is going way downhill obviously.

Was on 6.01 and over the past few days noticed a huge drop in battery life. On Thursday, 12/20 charged phone at work, made no phone calls, maybe 3 texts and by 11 pm phone was less the 10%. Charged overnight and made one phone call a few texts and it was down to 10% by 8 pm.

Updated to 6.02 but after reading all the posts wish I hadn't.

BTW, didn't have any noticable WiFi issues, hope I didn't create any with the update!

iOS 6.0.2 wifi on 24/7 celluar on, useage 23 minutes, standby 12 hours, 16 minutes battery 100% so its not all phones, so if your phone is defective as has been said change it, thats the most sensible thing to do, ranting on here wont do a thing to help. I had a 4S that had battery issues, had it swapped out and all was well. Why stress out about something that you cannot alter but can fix so easily? Lifes to short its a phone, that simple.

No it's not all but it's a lot of them. And what and see what happens when you get past 100%. Sometimes mine stays at 100% for a little bit but once it starts dropping boy does it drop! Today I had an hour and a half standby and 25 minutes of usage at 100%. As soon as it hit 99% it went from 99% to 93% (now) with just another hour of standby and another 5 minutes of usage. Horrible! It will be dead in 10-12 hours if I don't use it (maybe less) and 4-6 if I use it lightly.

I updated to iOS 6.0.2 the day it came out, I have so far not noticed a massive drain, I charged it 12 and a bit hours ago as posted, normal useage before then and no issues like yours, not sure what the difference is, I'm in the UK using a sim free 64Gb handset bought from Apple. Are you using 4G? As I said so far my phones battery useage has remained the same after the update.

ios 6.0.2 has introduced wifi and battery issues with my iphone 5 (64GB sim free from Apple)

. 1. I am clearly connected to my home wifi as normal, but when i use an app over wifi, it will take long time to load, and then wifi just drops and i move to 3g. i need to go back in to connect to my wifi netowrk.

2. my wifi range has reduced

3.my 3g signal has increased. in ios6 and 6.0.1 i couldnt get 3g from my house, like i usually could with iphone 4. that has returned with ios 6.0.2 and i can see a reasonable 3g signal.

4.my battery isnt behaving well. i had excellent battery use in last 2 ios versions, but 6.0.2 has intorduced significant battery drainage.

please sort this apple,
i had a great phone....
which you've totally arsed up with this update!!

I have brand new iphone 5. It was bought set up on the 12th December and no problems, worked fine. I upgraded to 6.0.2 two days ago and now the battery drains away incredibly fast. Yesterday I charged the phone to 100% at 7pm and this morning it would not turn on because the battery was dead. I had made no calls at all! All it has done is sit on my bedside table.

I will try and swap the handset today, but this is definitely a big problem.

I noticed that when the phone was in my coat pocket yesterday (again, not being used) it was getting very warm & the battery was draining like mad.

I wish I had my 4s back!

To those with battery issues - do you have the following setting on or off? If on, try changing to off:

Settings-->Wi-Fi-->Ask to Join Networks

I am wondering if the phone is constantly looking for networks in a way that drains the battery. I always leave this off, and manually look for a wifi network if I am somewhere when I want to connect.
