Iphone 5 and IOS 6.0.2 is draining my battery!

Beware IOS 6.0.2!!

I loaded IOS 6.0.2 yesterday. Unfortunately it only partially fixed my wifi issues (I already have several posts about my wifi issues). But, to my complete and utter frustration, it introduced a NEW ISSUE I was not having before -- it is absolutely draining my battery. I can usually get through a day with about 75% of my battery power remaining. Today I've gone through 90% and I've done nothing special with it.

Come on, Apple! I know you guys have to be reading these posts. You are driving your loyal fan base away. I'm ready to get my money back and switch to Android. The time (hours-and-hours spent trying to debug my problems) and money do not seem worth it any more.

I turned off Cellular Data, and kept WIFI on, this seems to solve the battery issue, i will repost here in 2 hours to confirm whether my battery issue is gone or not by turning Cellualr Data off.

I know this is far from being a perfect solution, but at least we can figure out what is causing the battery dropping.

I updated to 6.0.2 in the morning and it was fine all day, had 60% when I went to bed and connected to charger. Went to the bathroom like 2 AM and disconnected from charger. Woke up at 5 and the phone was really hot and battery was at 61%. I could actually see it drop as I held the phone. I turned it off and two hours later at work I can´t turn it on again. Hopefully the battery is drained, will check when I get home.

OK ! Was able to restore my phone to 6.0.1 ( which is not as easy as it sounds ). Battery is behaving normally now but I still have the WLAN connection issues like before. Played a little bit around with my router and found that the iPhone has no problem connecting to my WLAN and keeping the connection if I set my WLAN to run at 5GHZ ( 802.11.n+a ) !

Unfortunately this is not a solution for me as I have several ( old ) devices which refuse to connect to a 5GHZ network.

I'm not that dependant on having the iPhone run in my WLAN but it would be nice to not use my 3G connection to much if I do not have to. I hope they will find a solution in one of the next Firmwares...

One last word ! If I take a look at my sons 100€ Android Phone and how nice the battery life is and how reliable the WLAN connection works I'm starting to think that my next phone might not be an iPhone anymore :-)

I updated to 6.0.2 after having WiFi issues (when connected to WiFi via Cisco 802.11n). I don't know if my WFi is better because I've been on LTE only lately, but my battery most definitely is draining faster. I can't even make it a full work day. Yesterday, I was taking a lot of pictures so I figured that had something to do with it... But once it hit 9%, it immediately shut off and was at 0%.

I'm surprised people are saying 6.0.2 is causing this. I have had two iPhone 5's and both have been like this under 6.0, 6.0.1 and 6.0.2. I also tried restore, DFU restore, disabling all the services, etc. I tried everything. The only thing that works is disabling cellular data completly and only using WiFi. If I wanted to do that though I could have bought an iPod for less than half the price. Agreed, shame on Apple for not even acknowleding the problem let alone fixing it. Disgusting.

Since the inception of the IOS 6.0.2 update, I will say that my battery life Ip5 has worsened yesterday at 2 pm my battery went dead, normally I charge it overnight and it comes off charge at 7am lasts the day, Now its a real pain in the butt to bring a charger with me to work. Gentlemen there is a problem with the platform will you please fix it! IOS 4 never had this battery issue. Or should you give the platform to Google to fix? Steve Jobs would not like whats happening here..

Morning all,

Im on the same boat here as most of you guys. As soon as i updated to new 6.0.2 my phone is getting worse than ever, not to worry about wifi to much but the battery drain issue is a big concern for me. For instance my phone has been plugged in all night 100% battery life, check emails, send a text message and finally browse FB for a few minutes, checked my battery is at 85% are you serious apple? I only used my phone for 3 minutes at the most, this was at 8am this morning est time now is 11:35 and my battery is at 50% and i have not used my phone at all, this is driving me insane

I'm not a fan of legal action. My primary concern is that with the battery getting hammered it is going to affect the longterm life of the battery. If your battery is rapidly discharing over and over again and in many cases going completely flat then your battery is not going to perform as well as it should after one year let alone two.
