Whatsapp suddenly stopped working on my iPhone 3G:

It first asked me to verify my cell#. After I did it, it tells me that they have sent me an SMS with code to the my cell#, and I should enter the 3 digit activation code. Since I never received the activation code, I chose to click on either 'Resend code' or 'Call me'.

Whichever I clicked on, it gives a response that my Application is of an older version.

When I then tried to update Whatsapp via Appstore, the message says that 'Update Required' : 'This app requires iOS 4.3'

After browsing through the internet, I found an answer that my 3G iPhone can not go any higher than 4.2.

Why should I change my old iPhone 3G, when Whatsapp was already working perfectly before on it ?

iPhone 3G, iOS 4.2

Everybody is complaining about Whatsapp, but there are more apps not working anymore !

Shazam, iCoyote,... To name some.

The iPhone 3G is becoming history :-(

Tried also several methods, jailbreaking it, some program called iFunbox to load, but nope.

Nothing is working (tried 10 different .4).

Will try to find a solution ... perhaps buying 3GS, rest is to expensive and next year another lowest working model ...

you're somewhat right but not entirely,

if you have all the old version of the applications you want, most of them still work on the 3G as they did back when those apps were running on iOS 4.2.1,

but if you want to use the newest version of the apps you're right... they no longer work and it's supposed to be like that since our hardware doesn't support most of the new features,

the problem with whatsapp is that they are forcing us to update our working app by having us confirm again the number - which we cannot do because the latest version requires a newer iOS version than what our iphone can handle.

so... even though I agree with you, I think we should instead force apple and the devs to make the older app versions available and not only the last app version to be available in the app store like it happens now.

Can you please post the link that you indicated you had re-installed whatsapp 2.8.4 with.

I tried App store, and Whatsapp official website https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/whatsapp-messenger/id310633997?mt=8, and http://www.whatsapp.com/, but couldn't find any resolution yet.

That would help us all, if you could post the link on this community discussions forum. It really sounds too good to be true.

I had a iphone 3GS but was stolen. and in it I could have the last version of whatsapp.

And as I know that the phone will never appear in the (find my iphone) and apple won't block the IMEI to in case the phone appear and try to register with another user.

I will need to do some "illegal" actions, in the eyes of apple, in the phone I have now iPhone 3G, to be possible have some of my old apps in my phone. and some of them paid.

But when I request to them block the code they said they can't.

Nevertheless thanks for the help by email.
