Whatsapp suddenly stopped working on my iPhone 3G:

Hi Visshalp I found whatsapp 2.8.4 online and I downloaded but when I tried to sync with my iPhone I can't , I deleted by mistake on my iPhone old version and now I my iTunes I have a new version of whatsapp so can sync with my phone either

Any suggestions?

The copy you downloaded is illegal. You are not licensed for it. You can't use it.

Hey Villavicencio, if you have old version of whatsapp i.e 2.8.4 still with you, try to install it with iFunbox ot iTools. It works

Hey Tim, I wonder how do u say that copy is still illegal ? Whatsapp sent the mail, that u can use 2.8.4 on iPhone 3g, and they don't have it on their own site, so you have to download it from some other sites. Thats it. They are not cracked to be termed as illegal

The only legitimate source for apps is the app store. If Whatsapp wanted you to have it outside of the app store, they would provide a way for you to get it. Whoever posted and is distributing the app is doing so illegally. They do not have the right to distribute someone else's work. It's like you making thousands of copies of a CD and handing them out to everyone you know. It's illegal. Even if you don't profit from it, it's still illegal.

I've tried to reinstall it with iTools the version that I have in iTunes, but still doesn't work 😟 the same situation with the message "sorry, your app version is too old...", please any suggestion?? Thanks

if you don't have version 2.8.4 in iTunes it won't work, only on the 2.8.4 you're not prompted for a confirmation code if your number was previously used on that iPhone 🙂

Yes Alex, I have the WA 2.8.4 in iTunes, the one that I used for a lot of time. But hoping to solve the problem, I uninstalled the WA from my phone and installed again from iTunes and I tried to install even with iTools, and also tried to get the confirmation code from the use of another phone. Please help with any suggestion, thanks a lot

I had the same problem.

What it did to get it fixed is to restore the iPhone form a backup from before I deleted the app.

This backup used 2.8.3.

Trying to run this version failed and the reregistration also.

I replaced in the Itunes Media folder the version with 2.8.4. (which I had in another backup of another iPhone). Double clicked it and synched the iPhone.

Running the Whatsapp failed initially, but when reverifying the phone number it was accepted (without requiring the 3 digit code).

Up and running again.

So it doesn't work for me, I run standard iOS.

I finally bought the 4S because I am really lazy to adapt myself to the Android.

Obviously this kind of behaviour is just boosting sales for Android mobiles. During my holidays, I will buy the SIII or next SIV.

"Android" is not a company. It is an operating system which, if I recall correctly, Google provides to hardware manufacturers at no cost.

OK, then my money goes to a phone (whatever the manucfaturer) that using Android instead of buy new version of iPhone (for this trivial reason called WhatsApp that been murdered in my (flawlessly working) iPhone 3G by Apple policy)
