I received a Nano gen 7 for Christmas and could not get it to sync or even be recognized by either my PC or iMAC.....I do have the latest iTunes software on both....and reinstalled it on both twice and tried different USB ports on both machines. Returned this one for another one...same problem. Returned this one for credit....will stick to my two older Nanos that do work!!!

I have an Ipod Nano Generation 6 that had the same problem. I tried everything (i.e. reinstalling itunes, ect.) to no avail. I was previously able to sync songs without any problems. However, one day the sync function just stopped working. I ended up changing the settings to "manually manage music and videos." I am now able to sync again. Here is what I did:

  1. Plug in your ipod and wait for itunes to open
  2. Left click on your device at the top right corner of the itunes page (i.e. ipod nano, ect.)
  3. Make sure the summary tab is highlighted (upper left hand side near under the volume adjustment)
  4. Under options, click "manually manage music and videos"
  5. A warning will pop up (just click okay)
  6. Click apply on the lower right hand corner of the page
  7. Go to your library and scroll down to the song or video you want to sink
  8. Place your mouse cursor over the title. An arrow will apear on the right side of the title.
  9. Left click on the arrow and scroll down to "add to"
  10. Left click on the device you want the file synced to (you should now be able to see your device syncing the song on your ipod screen) You have to sync each file individually
  11. Make sure to manually eject your ipod before disconnecting your cable (there should be a USB icon on the bottom right hand corner of your computer screen)
  12. Left click on the icon then left click on "safely remove hardware" (a window should pop up and let you know that it is safe to dissconect your device

Hope this works for you.

I recently bought the 7th generation Apple iPod nano. First installation worked fine. I downloaded the latest iTunes software and was able to sync my existing playlist. I added some music to my playlist but can't find the sync anywhere on any screen I open. I reloaded the iTunes software but that didn't make a difference. This is very discouraging and not to mention frustrating. What do I have to do to sync my current playlist of music to my nano?
