iPhone 5 CALL FAILURE on Vodafone Mumbai

I got an iPhone 5 from Heera Panna, 64 GB, but often calls fail on that.

The calls are dropped though I have a full signal at my home at Hajiali (and where I used iPhone 4 with no problems at all).


Already tried removing all apps, upgrading to 6.0.2, a new vodafone SIM card,

Resetting Network Settings. Nothing works.


Can you suggest what to do? I think the iPhone 5 was bought in Singapore and the model is MD663ZA


Apple support in India said that I can exchange it for another piece only at an Apple store abroad. But they

have no clue about the problem or solution.


Would appreciate your input.

Vodaphone in India is not one of the supported carriers for the iPhone so you will have to take up any problems you may have with Vodaphone. If your iPhone is defective, though, you would indeed have to take it back to Singapore, or send it to someone you know there, for service. The warranty on the iPhone is valid only in the country in which the iPhone was originally sold.

Same issue here and also my friend mine is 32GB iPhone 5 from Singapore and my friend is having the phone with indian warranty both on Vodafone network ..and daily i face the call failed issue when i am on a call ... Called up vodafone customer care and they have no idea about this ... My sister is using a i5 on Docomo and not even a single call failed till now ... it's definatly a issue with vodafone. My friend has replaced the phone 2 times cause of this and still has the call failed issue ... it's really annoying ... will look for more days if it doesn't solves then will do a number portability ... also if possible Sidmehta and others who ever is having the same issue on vodafone from Mumbai we all can meet up and go to vodafone and talk to them about this ... maybe it can be resolved.

Also found many people on google group forums from Vodafone network with the same issue on iPhone5.

I have brought my iPhone 5 from mumbai from authorised apple seller. As I was using Vodafone I exchanged my SIM card with nano from Vodafone store. Initially calls was working fine but some 15 days it is giving me call failed error message. (Even though network is full)


As everybody is mentioning this same problem with vodafone or Airtel we are unable to pin point where problem is.

It's with operator network / SIM card / iPhone5 or operator setting.


I am remembering after using for few days I got some operator setting update message and I had updated. It was small process. Don't remember exactly but this problem occurred after this only.


I would like know if any one who is using Vodafone got this message and updated operating setting?


Hope we will get some solution for this irritating error. I remember there was some time zone issue with iPhone3g , and fixed later.

Mine has been solved 🙂. I did a hard rest and then used it as a new iPhone without connecting it to my pc again for a backup from iTunes & not even a single call failed issue. I read somewhere that it might be a problem cause of virus on your pc or a particular app, and for me it's definatly a Virus. Will be using my brother iMac for backup and other itunes stuff. Been behind this from so many days and finally 🙂 🙂 ... every1 give this a try maybe it will help.

Well DInesh mine drops calls ONLY in the Hajiali area. Everywhere else it works fine! So at least in my case I don't think it is a virus. Otherwise the call would drop at all locations not just at Hajiali.


It could be Settings from Vodafone, that got reset with your phone. Still, these settings should affect calls everywhere not just at Hajiali. But who knows?


Still, I will see if I have the time to hard reset it and not accept the settings. I have already done a Reset on Network Settings and that did not help.

I didn't tried a different sim card but i tried my sisters i5 with my Vodafone sim and it was working without any call failed issue. I called up Vodafone customer care they said me to go a Vodafone store and get a "GemAlto sim" i said them i already have a official nano sim from Vodafone but he was like sir this is a new sim only for i5 please get this. I went to vodafone they said me they don't have any sim called as gemalto and had no clue what i was talking about, i came back home searched google and then i came to know that "Gemalto" is a company which is a manufacturer for simcard and they provide sim card to Vodafone.So it's useless to wait for vodafone or any updates from them for your problem.

According to me what i feel is as Vodafone doesn't has a different setting for i5 users, if you saying you getting the call failed issue only at "hajilai" that means every phone in that area should have a call failed issue.

Even for me the call failed issue was extreme only at Morning & afternoon and very rare or never happens at night, and after the reset and by not connecting to itunes for backup it worked for me.

Another friend of mine on facebook iPhone community group had the same issue & even he did the reset thing and it worked for him.

And after my reset and setup as a new iPhone i again got the Network update from my carrier and this time i have cancelled it (Not now).

Give them a try maybe it will work.
