iPhone 5 CALL FAILURE on Vodafone Mumbai

I got an iPhone 5 from Heera Panna, 64 GB, but often calls fail on that.

The calls are dropped though I have a full signal at my home at Hajiali (and where I used iPhone 4 with no problems at all).


Already tried removing all apps, upgrading to 6.0.2, a new vodafone SIM card,

Resetting Network Settings. Nothing works.


Can you suggest what to do? I think the iPhone 5 was bought in Singapore and the model is MD663ZA


Apple support in India said that I can exchange it for another piece only at an Apple store abroad. But they

have no clue about the problem or solution.


Would appreciate your input.

Hi Everybody,


An update for all of you having "Call Failed" issue on iPhone 5 in Mumbai on Vodafone Network.I also had similar problem like i have mentioned earlier.I went to Vodafone shop in Mulund twice and tried replacing the nano SIM.Also tried restoring like a new phone.But after all this, the problem persisted.Vodafone guys told me that there is no problem with their network and the problem lies with the Phone.


I then went to Apple Service Provider in Thane who also confirmed the problem and agreed its a hardware issue.They have replaced the defective iPhone 5 with a New iPhone 5.


Trying out the replaced iPhone 5 now and not having any problems as of now.Will update if problem arises.


So the conclusion is that the problem is an iPhone hardware problem and needs replacement.So visit the Apple Service Center at the earliest.

I've the same issue using the Vodafone on iPhone 5 which I purchased in mid-Dec. I changed my SIM card twice from the Vodafone CC. That fixed nothing. So I'm assuming its not a problem with the SIM card atleast, can't say about the carrier.

Yesterday i visited iStore Thane, they said wait for an update to come as they were very much aware of the issue. But I resisted as I didnt find the problem with iOS. In that case it'd be with all the iPhone 5. So I asked them to replace it. So far, I've not receive the replacement. However, reading this forum, I can say that neither carrier nor the manufacturer knows the defect.

Please keep posting the remedies one took to rectify the defect. Thanks !

I had given my iphone5 for replacement at service center (14th-Jan).

I just told them I am facing so-n-so problem.

They did some diagnostic tests and informed me that it will get

replaced within 2-3 working days.


I was not getting any call failure after doing below procedure :

1. Erased all data and settings and setup phone as new. (not from backup)

2. Not updated the Network operator (Vodafone) update.


Used phone for a week with this condition and no call failed. But still i thought its better to replace the handset rather not

applying operator settings.


I hope so with new handset this problem will get resolved.
