My iPod touch 5th gen front camera is not working

I got my iPod touch 5th gen three weeks ago and it was working just fine as I could make FaceTime calls.... Yesterday the front camera shutter suddenly stopped working , it stays closed and will not open.... Even by doing a force quit of the camera app the problem persists... Resetting it will not work, resetting the settings will not work either... My back camera works just fine.... If I switch to the front camera the shutter freezes and won't open... what I do is I turn my device off and after a while as turn it on and the app camera goes back to normal displaying the back camera but if I switch again to the front camera it just simply will not work as I described.... Does this happen to anyone? Is this a software malfunction or is it a hardware issue?.... Thanks for any response regarding this matter....

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

One of the ways to fix it is the hardwiring. You have to take your iPod apart, which I don't have the nerve to do, and fix something in the wiring. Also don't update your iPod. That's when my cameras stopped working (plus I drop it a lot) there are plenty of YouTube videos out there telling you how to do it. Whatever you do DO NOT reset your iPod. It fixes absolutely nothing.
