Downloaded icc profiles from epson but can't open the compressed file

I updated the driver with no problem for an Epson r2400. But when I download the icc profiles from Epson I get a message

"You can't open the application "Glossy" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported"

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Kevin

Thanks so much for doing this! I had to walk away today, or I might not have had a computer to mess with! I think I may have figured out a solution, but I will need to experiment a bit more. It seems that the profiles need to go into a different file when using Maverick. I'll verifying the path and post it. As for my 7800, I deleted every profile everywhere that related to it or to printers I don't have (meaning I kept the 2400 profiles), then added a single 7800 ICC profile in 5 different places. When I went to print, there was my single 7800 profile, but it had lost the ICC extension. However, it HAD to be the ICC because I added nothing else. My test print looked just like the same photo from the 2400 and I didn't have to adjust color saturation as I had to in the past when not using an ICC for the 7800. Now, I need to figure out which of the 5 places is the magic place.... Complicated, I know, and probably just wrong! More tomorrow....

I experimented a bit more this morning, and everything seems to be working, both for the 2400 and the 7800. I put the profiles here: hard drive/library/application support/adobe/color/profiles/recommended. As I noted above, I am using Maverick, and this article is what led me to put the profiles where I did: http://www.drycreekphoto.com/Learn/profile_install.htm In the Adobe file, the subfolders color/profiles/recommended did not exist, and I created them.

I know all I've described sounds silly, and others more computer savvy than I may find something terribly wrong with what I have done, but, at least obstensibly, it works, and I have what I think are ICC profiles for the 7800 for the first time since I've owned it.

I welcome any adult supervision!

Thanks again, Kurt, for your help.

The folder you put them in works because there's an alias to that folder within the /Library/ColorSync/Profiles folder. So it finds them via that link. Any Adobe product you install will create that alias. It is odd though that you had to manually create the folder.

Anyway, while they'll work just fine from the folder you put them in (as long as you don't remove the alias link to that folder), they should really be in the /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ folder. This is the Library you see from the root of the drive alongside Applications, Users, etc.

You can create a subfolder in the /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ folder named Epson R2400 if you want, then put all of the folders I separated the profiles by within that. It serves no real purpose other than to reduce clutter in the Profiles folder by dropping all of the Epson R2400 .icc profiles loosely together in one spot. They'll still all list together in apps where you select the profile you want to use.

Kurt,

Thanks for explaining to me why what I did worked. As I told you, I put the profiles in 5 places; based on your last note, I deleted everything except what was in the folder you suggested. I haven't actually printed anything, but when I get set up to print, my profiles are there, just as you said they would be. And, I put the profiles in printer-specific folders.

I sincerely apprecite all the help you provided, and I hope to return the favor to someone one day....
