Received a new cMBP and Airport Express...

Hello-

I received my configured cMBP today and I had an old Airport Extreme but I also purchased w new Airport Express.

I have a few questions. I still have not opened the box because I want to make sure they configured the MBP like I configured it and paid for. I am hoping they will be able to check this at the Apple Store. Can I bring my old MBP and my new MBP to an Apple Store and have them help me set up the new MBP? Also, I have the old (about 5 years old) Airport Extreme hooked up working with my old MBP but I would like to get the Airport Express hooked up. is that failry straight forward? I think Mountain Lion has a utility that walks one through the set up. Anybody know if this is true.

I looked up my serial number on google and the machine that came up is not what I ordered and paid for. For example it says that the machine with the serial number I typed has a 750 GB Serial ATA (5400 RPM) hard drive and 15.4" widescreen TFT active-matrix "glossy" display (1440x900 native resolution). However, I paid for the 512GB Solid State Drive and the anti glare Hi Res screen.

anybody know of a site that has the acurate confiuration when the serial number is put in?

I know this is really basic, but I am not sure what to do. should I take it to the apple store first so they can help me tansfer the data on my old MBP to my new MBP and give me some pointers on hooking up the airport Express?

If I add some RAM to the MBP I just received from Apple will that void the Applecare? any suggestions on a good place that helps a novice add some RAM and has the tools like a 00 Phillips driver? Somebody in another forum told me awhile back that if I get a new MBP I will need a T Driver to remove the screws and install the new RAM. I had never heard of a T Driver.

It says this is a mid 2012 MBP. Do they not make late 2012 or early 2013 models?

you had mentined that you are not going to install all of your stuff in your old MBP into your new MBP, but just update the apps. I would like to do the same because last time they moved the problems I was having with my MBP into my new MBP so the new MBP was suffering with the same issues that the old one was. This was the MBP I had before the one I just got. I do not want to import the data inmmy old MBP to my new MPB. How does one move over to the new computer just what they want like their gmail accounts, their iTune songs, some documents, etc. I do not want all that is in Finder moved to my newest MBP because there are some problems with some things in Finer that the Genius bar could neverr fix. How do you plan on importing just what you want to over to your new computer?

No, I did not say that - when my hard drive was replaced in my iMac, I simply cloned back my entire system onto the new drive.

When my Macbook was replaced by Apple, I did not migrate or clone anything - I installed all my applications from scratch: that means from the install DVD or download from the developer's site. The only thing I copied over were some of my photos (not in iPhoto since I don't use it) and my songs (I copied the folder and imported them into iTunes on the new machine). Also copied some folders from my Documents folder - that was it. Everything else was a clean, fresh install.

You can use Target disk mode for selective copying:

yea that is what I thought you said. that is what I decided to do with my new MacBook Pro. I did not have them transfer what is on my old Mac to my new Mac. I did transfer my iTunes folder, and my documents folder. So I thought I would do that too because I was having so many issues with my old MBP that they were not able to fix. I did not want these on my new MBP.

I think I am OK for now. I will check out Target disk.
