Why is Safari blocking the latest Java plugin?

you won't have more luck with firefox - this is a general problem with java.

At the current time I'm left without any java in a browser on my mac even for the critical apps I MUST use.

I really dislike that paternalism instead of just showing me a warning messages!

I just downloaded Java7u11 from Oracle. Should fix it.

Just confirmed: not surprisingly 7u11 is allowed to run. Hopefully it doesn't need to be blacklisted anytime soon.

A new version of Java is now available 1.7.11.

I have just installed it and java works fine now with safari.

Just installed Java 7 update 11 and all seems to be working well in Safari now. 🙂

I am an adult, quite capable to making decisions for myself and accepting the risks and consequences associated with those decisions. That includes those risks associated with not spending time updating software when I'm trying to log into a Juniper VPN to send an urgent email. I paid you almost £2000 for a laptop, not a nanny.

Yup, last week I paid $2100 to have a top of the line laptop, Macbook Pro Retina, but it will not connect to my VPN due to the java block. I called Apple and they told me they do have a fix by the advanced team who can walk me through it but I have to pay $99 since it does not come with that support option out of the box! ***?! So Apple charges the highest out of all companies for a "Top of the line" laptop, blocks Java, tells its customers it can fix the problem but it will be $99 additional dollars after I literally just spent $2100 a week prior. Unbelieveable. Apple will continue this profit/customer service slide without Steve Jobs....just as it did when he first left. I'm kind of beside myself right now...

I had the same problem, using Safari. However, thus far I've been able to log in to my work VPN using Firefox. Give it a try.

don't see the problem - just install the latest version of java (7.13) - it's available.

It's a nice walk around. I used it a few weeks ago when safari blocked java 7.10 and we had to wait during a few days until java 7.11 was released.

Java has a tool that you can confirm it is installed correctly... you may be missing a plug-in. http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp

This last post on apr 10 from faltinowski worked for me. Just going to that link fixed my Java
