ringtone maker on new itunes 11.1

I am using the ringtone maker, and with the new itunes 11.1 i'm having such a hard time! and I dont see the ringtone section that use to be there when the old itune was there. so what do I do? how do I get this ringtone on my phone now? I dont want to have to go back to buying ringtones and then getting the part I dont want on the song. so I really need some help guys.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.0.1

iTunes menu > View > Show Sidebar

This will show the sidebar like in version 10.x

I have 2 MP3s that I am trying to convert to ringtones.


(Windows 7)


At the step where you take the file in windown explorer, and rename the extension from .m4a to .m4r

The files say something about converting, it may become unusable. I say OK, and then it changes to a generic page icon. Then it won't allow me to bring the .m4r's with the generic icons back into iTunes, the cursor changes to a red circle with a slash.


What now?
