I cannot see the balance on my itunes gift card account, at the top right hand corner of the itunes screen (on my iPad), where I believe it is supposed to show. Can anyone tell me how to see what has happened with my gift card balance? Thanks.

Had the same issue as well. My gift card balance was showing on itunes pc account (logged in) but then disappeared shortly after. I went into the 'purchase history' in the Account menu and saw that purchases that read "Store Credit" were deducted from the gift card by default instead of my CC. Added them up and sure enough it equaled out to $25. That's why the balance no longer showed up, it zeroed out.

This is INSANE. It just happened to me, but with a $1,000 gift card. Yes, with three zeros. Apple iTunes support not helpful. Exactly as everyone has listed above.
Incredible that this is still happening in 2016. I'm still reeling at the loss of $1K.
Scrambling now to find the plastic card. It was in August 2015. I verified it in iTunes and it showed up (as the silver plastic card) in Wallet. Only to disappear magically later.
We have to let others know about this somehow.

I had $75+ and I just logged in and only have $5 left? what the **** is going on?? Double checked my past purchases and havent purchased anything since I had $75+
I noticed my balances missing, but then remembered I have HBO Now. So iTunes deducts from the gift cards 1st. Kinda stinky, since I wanted to purchase music with the gift cards.
