IIIaass is right - the sleak, thin 5G iPod have a bending problem. Do your homework, go on the internet and look for bent ipod touch or warped ipod touch and it's amazing how many people have had this problem. Not saying they all have the problem and not sure why they bend...over heating, casing not strong enough, fan problems, but that's up to their engineers to figure out which I hope they are doing. Mine was replaced with lots of persistence but the fact remains ' there is a problem '....or hopefully by now it's more like ' there WAS a problem'

I took my son to the local Apple store this morning with this same problem. The rep said that he had never seen this problem before. And, he tried to place the blame for it on my son's use of the device. This is nonsense. This ipod cost my son all of his gift money for a year (or more!) And, he is EXTREMELY careful with it. He keeps it in a protective soft case. He doesn't carry it in his pocket. And, he doesn't leave it in the sun. I told the rep he could search for "bent ipod" on the internet and see lots of cases of these devices bending and warping on their own. And, he said "You can find anything on the internet." While I understand he is just saying what he has been told to say, and he may not have the authority to do more than offer us a costly replacement, I am extremely disappointed in Apple for not designing a better product, not more rigorously testing the design, and not standing behind their product once it was sold. I told my son that he might just have to wait for the class action lawsuit that is bound to happen and the subsequent recall before he gets any satisfaction from Apple.

In case anybody out there still had doubts, here are pics of my approx. 1 year old Apple iPod 5th Gen. I took extremely good care of it because it was a sizeable cost for me, and I never left it out in hot temperatures. And it's not like I said 4-6 months ago, "Eh, it's starting to warp a little bit, I may as well keep on abusing it so that it gets worse..." I continued to try and take good care of it in hopes that the warping would NOT get any worse. But now it's about a year later and I have to use it like this.

What is odd and interesting is that it doesn't seem to be a simple display warping. The middle of it feels SOLID, and I can't press it any closer than it is now, as if something inside expanded. (But I don't want to just break it open to find out for certain.) Also, the metal case in the back is not at all warped as far as I can tell, it is only the display and outer plastic frame. And like all of you, I've simply been told that it was due to misuse (when I know that it is definitely not). And I am very disappointed in Apple, not just for the clearly problematic product but for its constant denial of any fault.

The same exact thing happen to my iPod! Its looks the same too! Okay first off I got my iPod in August so I've only had my iPod for two months. Like two days ago I was using my iPod and it was hot like really hot and that's never happen to it yet I thought its always cool and never over heated. But anyway I noticed that the upper left part of the screen was like white not that much but you could notice it on a dark screen. But today I noticed it the screen wasn't as bright and clear as it was then i noticed it was bent just picking it up. Like seriously ***? This is crazy that the same exact thing happen to other people! I want Apple to give me a new iPod! This is bs! Its not right!

ive had my iPod touch 5th Gen since the week of release, over 2 years now. it use to be in a case but about a year ago i got bored and just used it without anything protecting it. then when i saw the iPhone 6+ would bend i looked at my iPod from an angle to tell if the edge was bent, it was slightly curved about 1-2mm over the whole device, i hadn't noticed because its such a small curve. also i noticed that the device's four corners touched a flat surface at the same time, even though it has a sticky out camera so it should rock slightly if it was straight.

these iPods are made from aluminium which is a soft metal, having a long thin piece of soft metal and putting it in tight pockets is a recipe for disaster!! 🙂 i did put my iPod in back pocket sometimes and it has been dropped a few times so its a tough thing. what i would say is that these devices have a very large length to thickness ratio, so they act as a lever upon themselves. if you try and snap a 2cm small stick 5mm wide its hard but if you've got a 50cm 5mm thick stick its easy. if you're an iPod touch user be aware of the fragility of the device, i was not and its warped. i bent it back now and its fine. but DO NOT try this, if you press on the back panel or screen hard you WILL smash or break it. the battery is very fragile and same for the LCD display. And if you try and bend it back too hard the edges of iPod will fold in and smash the display- i heard this happens with iPhone 6+ too.

Bit of advice for all users, don't try and bend it or sit on it, because it probably will get warped, or even smash, as the display is glass and glass doesn't bend :]
