transfer pictures from iPhone 5 to Mac

Thus far I have been unable to uncover information on how to transfer media (iPhone photos and videos) to my MacBook Pro. Can you point me in the right direction?

iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.2, to MacBook Pro OS X 10.8.2

Can anyone help me? I am NOT a tech whizz, but oh so frustrated. On my iphone5, I have 5,900 photos in photo stream in addition to camera roll, last 12 months and untitled album. I want them all OFF MY PHONE. Most of them are on my MAC book pro (although I don't understand why all are not there). I cannot take a photo because "not enough storage". I just want these photos off my phone. Can anyone offer the easiest way to do this?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I find iPhoto to be cumbersome, and use iFunBox (application for Mac) to manage my iPhone photos. You just connect your iPhone to your Mac, run iFunBox, and then you go to the "Camera" folder listed in the application. From there you can manage your photos and videos, delete them, create folders, copy them to your Mac, or open them in any application for editing. Its sort of like using your iPhone as a hard drive. You can even copy photos from your Mac onto your iPhone.

BTW, some people in this thread are being mean to other people. That's not nice. Stop it.

1. Connect your iPhone 5 to your computer. iPhoto should automatically open its import window and show your iPhone's images and videos.

If iPhoto doesn't open, you need to turn the option on.

2. Click Import All. Or if you want to import specific items, select those images and videos, then click Import Selected. After your photos import, a dialog will ask you if you want to delete the original photos from your Camera Roll.

3. Choose Delete Photos or Keep Photos. If you delete photos after you import them, you can reduce the size of your Camera Roll and improve backup and restore times. If you want to import the photos to additional computers, keep your photos.

Then you can transfer photos from Mac to iPhone or back.
