Setting up to receive texts on Verizon ipad
How do I set up my Verizon iPad to receive text messages. When I go into settings I can only set up apple id and email address. Can't get anywhere to set enter phone number. Thanks for any help

Do you have an iPhone? You can only use a phone number from an iPhone. It will not work with any other cell phone number.
Just so that you know .... Messages only works with other iOS devices or Macs running Mountain Lion. The other user that you want to reach must already be setup and registered to use Messages on their device as well. If they haven't registered Messages on their device, you will not be able to reach them.
I do have an iPhone. My email is set on iPad settings but can't get anywhere to put phone number in to get texts. Just says I can add another email. Thx for response
Ipads do not receive or send sms.
There are no texting plans for Ipads.
Imessage uses Apple servers and your data connection to send messages to and from IOS devices only.
You can find texting apps in the app store but they will not work with an existing cell phone number.
You should still be able to link your phone number to Messages and FaceTime however. See if this is of some help to you.

I think basically, you have to sign out, turn the apps off, and then start all over again in order to link your phone number, but you can read the article for yourself.
