Battery Life w/ iOS 6.1 even worse!

Hello Everyone,

I've been getting some more battery issues with 6.1. I was hoping it was going to fix the 6.0.2 problems, but it seems to be worse now. Anyone else have this problem? I have an iPhone 5. Thanks!

I completely agree. I upgraded my iPad 4 from iOS 6.0.1 to iOS 6.1 and instantly I regret my finger touch. I already made one mistake before for ios5.1 to ios6 on iPhone why can't I resist the temptation of upgrading my iPad?

My test data shows battery drain speed has doubled when all functions are on. I had to turn off wifi, no notification and low brightness the bleeding is stopped. But what I can do with a deaf and blind iPad?

Tried to roll back to iOS 6.0.1 but no luck. Does Apple allow us to do that?

I updated to iOS6.1 on iPhone 4S yesterday morning and noticed rapid battery drain, as well. No hard data, but I plugged it in to charge overnight as I usually do. Woke up this morning to see battery at 1%, though I could still get to email and calendar. Unplugged it and moved it to a different charger in case it was an issue with that, now iPhone unable to turn on, battery drained, even while plugged in. Tried connecting to laptop w/ iTunes, but no change, so I can't even restore it. What gives?

I updated my 3G iPad 2 the other day. Put the thing in standby last night with ~85% charge--don't remember exactly, but do recall it was between 90 and 80%.

Turned it on this morning and it is suddenly at 24%. Odd, but no big deal. I just figured I would leave it in standby at work and use it to listen to mucic. I have done this before several times before the update and it will usually only drain aobut 10% of the battery.

Not today. After a mere four hours of playing music while in standby I woke it up to pause the music. It was at 6%.

Wow! So, I stopped the music and just put it in standby. I needed to check a date on my calendar for an upcoming meeting so I went to wake it up three hours later and it is completely dead.

I have never had this iPad run completely dead, and I have used it for several days without charging it. Suddenly, after updating to 6.1 and it won't last 16 hours of mostly standby.

What a joke. To bad it is on us the customers.

I installed iOS 6.1 yesterday morning on my iPhone 5 (about a month old) and I have noticed significantly BETTER battery performance. The battery only lost 10% charge in a 24 hour period (mostly standby). This matches the doumented iPhone 5 battery specs of 225 hrs stanby time. Priod to the iOS update the battery would lose 40-50% charge in a 24 hour period. I have email set up (hotmail), iCloud backup turned off, normally use Wi-Fi (home internet wireless network) for data, all iTunes automatic functions off, and turn off apps after using them (double click the home button).

Well, I am eating crow now. After doing some more testing, I determined that my battery issue was not caused by 6.1. The day after I installed 6.1 I installed a new game. For some reason this game is what caused the battery drain. I haven't figured out how or why it is doing it, but when I completely close the program, not just lost focus my battery life goes back to normal.

I upgraded to 6.1 two days ago on my 2 month old Iphone 5. Since upgrading the battery life has been terrible. Within one hour of removing from charger it is down to 75% battery. I have disabled wifi, bluetooth, location services, push email and still have issues. Apple, please get things right before rolling out updates. The battery life is notoriously bad on all you iphones and it just got so bad I can't even use the phone for the day as without even using the device after 4 hours I'm out of battery. The only way I can make the phone last is to turn off all data services...... this defeats the purpose of having a smart phone. Please advise how to correct this problem urgently.

I have the 6.1 update on my iPhone 5. I am running a battery test of my own. Phone was uplugged from the charger at 5:30am Monday 2/4/13. I have streamed about an hour total of music over 3G, phone calls totaling 25 min, downloaded 2 apps over Wifi, received 2 dozen emails. It is now 8:53am 2/5/13 and the battery shows 45%. The display is set to turn off after 2 min. Wifi is always on. Cellular data is on. Bluetooth is on. Email push is set for every hour. I plan to wait until the battery life is at 10% before I charge.

There has to be some other reason all these phones talked about here are having such problems. I suspect it's either a battery calibration problem or some settings were changed during the update.
