iOS 6.1 has removed sound, volume controls

iPhone 4. Updated to 6.1, had the sound issue. Dock cable in and out and jiggled a few times. Didn't connect to computer or anything, just the wide end of the cable into phone. Issue resolved. Was definitely worried for a minute...

Same issue after updating to iOS 6.1 on iPhone 4. The dock 'jiggle' does not work for me. It restores the sound for a moment and then it's gone. This is an unacceptable bug in the new OS and really brings up the issue of who is doing quality control over at Apple these days. Outsourcing = Bad

Apart from using docking, plug in headphone will also fix this problem. It remain fine after unplug the headphone.

true, not for everyone! I tried docking and headphones -and restorning, nothing works.

I have the same problem after IOS 6.1 update (I phone 4). No sound via hardware contorl, no loudspeaker, no video sound control, no rington. I tried everthing: Dockstation, headset, youtube help videos, cleaning audio port, restore and repair software, using Ifunbox. Nothing was helpful.

I ve been also to a German Apple store. They wanted to tell me that there are no known issues like this after ios 6.1 update and they told that this a hardware issue of my iphone. :-) Sure, there is no warranty anymore. The proposal of them was to change my old to new iphone 4 for round about 200 US dollars. I don´t want a new one, I want to know what happens. I want a solution... Also they told me that they never heard about such issues. If you check internet, it s not the first time users have problems like this.

Nevertheless I am very dissapointed about this customer service and quality policy. After this experience I am thinking about to leave apple...

Maybe there is someone who already found a solution to erase this issue?

I spoke too soon regarding the docking fix. The problem seems to return upon recharging... Apple fix needed ASAP.

I had this exactly same problem and told about it here before but then I realized that even though I worried and got frustrated about my iPhone 4S sounds not working God is always in control of everything that happens in this world. Even the problems in my iPhone are controlled by Him. Then I prayed that this problem would go away if it is God's will. The next time time I tried my iPhone sounds it worked just as before the update. But what comes to the subject of me having an iPhone 4S I have the same opinion as the apostle Paul says in his letter to the philippians...

I've tried the suggested fixes as well to no avail. I have to say that it is quite irritating as by the time I noticed this problem, I had several important missed messages. I truely hope that there is a true fix to this soon.

I found the answer!!!!! Do you have a padlock symbol with a circle round it near your battery bar? This is what happened to my daughters phone after she did the update no sound and she got this symbol, so i searched for answers to this weird symbol. Its your rotation lock. To turn it off double tap your home button, swipe right at the multi-tasking bar and click the gray box. When you do that it automatically takes the symbol away and THE MUSIC COMES BACK ON!!!!! Very simple and no rebooting.
