FedEx delivery nightmare!

ugh! Sorry, this is more of a rant and 'how the heck did this happen to me?' post.

So I placed my order for the 17" on may 1. May 8 is says it shipped. To be delivered to me on May 11. I keep checking the tracking and this morning it said it was on the truck for delivery!! So cool! This is my first ever laptop and MAC! I'm so excited.

I'm home all morning. Then I check the tracking and it says delivered. huh? I call fed ex and they read me back the address that it was delivered at - it's the apple store in our new mall! WTH??? They say they will have it picked back up.

Not knowing how long it will take to get to me - I offer to just go get it myself. The store isn't even opened yet (grand opening this weekend), so I have to sneak around back hallways to find an open door. Grab the the first employee I see and ask for the manager. They confirm, that yes they got two wrong packages and had already sent them back with thier daily pickup. At this point I just want to scream!

So I get back on the phone with fedex and as they are 'documenting' the whole thing they tell that they are going to try and 'find it' and will get back to me. Cmon people! we're talkin a 3 grand computer here!

So I get a call back from someone saying that the driver is going to go back this afternoon and pick it up from the store and then deliver it to me this afternoon. Um, ok, but it's already been picked up! She saids 'well,I don't know anything about that. It's going to be picked up'.

Ok, I give up. All I can say is it better get to me soon and in good condition.

I just had to share with all you because I know you could understand my frustration awaiting my first mac!

i actually had a great experience with fedex, i ordered the Macbookpro 2.33 GHz on sunday (Oct 29) i was checking it everyday during school and it said that the package was supposed to arrive friday (Nov 3) but on thursday it had arrived and when i got home i got the door stub and i was totally excited then about 30 min later the fedex guy decided to make a 2nd stop and i was home at the time! That was probably the best service ive ever gotten 😀

That's exactly why I went to the Apple store in the
mall to buy my Macbook Pro!

Unfortunately, I decided to get the 3 GB of RAM and the 200 GB hard drive -and that's only available as a build-to-order. The Apple Stores in the malls can sell you a RAM upgrade, but they don't stock or do hard drives. 😟

Apple still hasn't gotten back to me with any information about a replacement. If I were a first-time Mac buyer, I might give up in frustration. I've bought a dozen or more Macs over the years, and never had a bad experience with their old carrier, Airborne Express. But this is the third problem I've had since they switched to FedEx. I think it's time for Apple to consider giving customers a choice of shipping options.

So, I may be the unluckiest Powerbook/MacBook Pro owner as regards deliveries. My screen is dying after 3yrs on my G4 15" Powerbook and I've ordered a replacement MacBook Pro. My original powerbook got stolen even before it was delivered to me (Apple uses DHL in the UK and it seems the driver (in Amsterdam) fancied an extra laptop). Anyway, needed the MacBook Pro to arrive before I made a US trip next week and have just found out that it's been totalled in a car wreck in Taiwan.

Cool.

Need another $200 voucher as compensation i think.
