Since I've been mentioned (I'm subscribed to this thread) I figured I'd come back and report that this "fix" has continued to work for my husband and I, and thankfully there have been no more occurrences of pocket dialing clients nor has itunes started blaring out at inappropriate times.
I found the solution. Because I have an iPhone 4S with Siri, I turned Siri on, a passcode on, then deactivated Siri from the lock screen.
Deactivating Voice Control from the lock screen doesn't work, but Siri does.
It's a great solution, thanks!
Great solution! Thanks!
Jaredhilton solution worked for me. passcode + diable voicedialing
I just got the screen on my 4 replaced by a back alley guy and the home buttom is messed up, the gd phone was auto calling people overseas, tk gdness it never connected.
If you haven't found a solution, this might help. Worked for me
If you have the triple home button click you can disable it. Just triple click the home button and a menu will appear, click the voice control option 2 times and it disables it.
Hope it helps... 🙂
You're confusing Voice Over with Voice Control. Triple clicking has no effect on Voice Control.
You should lighten up. No one comes here for abuse....just help.
If Apple was designed to put the device owner in the driver's seat these problems would vanish.
I and my husband thank all those who kindly shared their knowledge and experience in the quest for a solution to this design problem.
Like your new identity.
Thanks for this. I think it really might solve the crazed pocket dialing issues I've been having. Voice Control does seem to be the issue, especially when I'm in a noisy environment.
I agree with Shelley.
After reading this thread which was relevant to myself, modular747 comes over as maybe someone who should get out more & with an absolutely horrible Mr Knowitall attitude.
If you're going to post modular747, try & not be yourself.

How did you deactivate Siri from the Lock screen?
Settings>general>passcode lock. Turn it on & pick a pass code (or just enter your passcode if one is already set). Then, on the same screen, turn Siri off.

You mean stopped Siri from working on the Lock screen. I thought you meant while on the lock screen, you deactivated Siri.
Regardless, with Voice Control (not Siri) activated, it takes us back to the original post.
Hi Chris. That quote you just attribute to me, I can't see ever having been said so not sure where you got it from?
Anyway, I think it has been established that you cannot disable Voice Control for the Lock Screen, though if you enable Siri (therefore making Voice Control redundant), you can then disable that for the Lock Screen.
Whilst you correctly point out this is not a solution to the 'subject' it is a good solution to the actual problem described by the OP and experienced by many others, which was the phone listening for voice commands whilst it was locked and accidentally activated. Hence I pointed out in a previous post that perhaps the subject was misguided, the solution, however, remains good.

Okay. I asked BradCol how he did it then you responded. I didn't pay attention that it wasn't actually BradCol who responded.
NOTE for 4S users:
This is the complete and correct answer to problem, where Siri/Voice control accidentally activates in pocket (with iPhone 4S).
(From RykerDJ:)
You go to settings>general>passcode lock. Turn it on. Pick a pass code. Then, on the same screen, scroll down and click Siri, turning it off.
