Disappearing Events in icloud.com Calendar

For some strange reason last night all my class times that I had in my calendar disapeared right before my eyes in the icloud.com/calendar calendar for this entire term, both past and future. I checked my iPhone and all of it is still there, but on icloud.com/calendar they're still missing. I figured for some reason perhaps my phone simply wasn't syncing correctly so I re-entered all my class times on the website. I checked my phone and it now contains duplicates of all my class times. A short amount of time past and I returned to icloud.com/calendar to discover that the newly re-entered class times had disappeared once again!

I've looked around the settings and I can't figure out why they're suddenly disappearing.

Any help would be awesome!

One of the reasons I bought a brand new iMac last week was for the iCloud feature. We all know having our calendars accessible via iPhone or iPad while I on-the-go is paramount! I've spent hours trying to figure out why weekly repeating events keep disappearing from iCloud and from my iPhone while remaining on my iMac and iPad and here is what I found:

Weekly recurring events entered WITHOUT exceptions remain on iCloud and all other devices

Weekly repeating events WITH exceptions remain on iMac and iPad, but DISAPPEAR from iCloud and iPhone

For example:

If I enter "Cardio Class every Thursday at 7:00AM" it will remain on all calendars/devices

If I enter "School Pickup at 3:30PM every weekday," but delete one or more dates because of holidays or early dismissal, everything will appear OK, but within minutes all entries will disappear from iCloud and iPhone despite selecting DELETE ONLY THIS EVENT

Something to note is that my iPad is 1st generation and has not been updated in at least a year. My iMac and iPhone are brand new. I hope this information helps Apple (or someone else) figure out this problem soon. I won't be able to get back the countless hours I wasted, but hopefully we will all be able to get out busy schedules back on track. Until then I will be carrying around a paper calendar and pen.

Thank you ebfk! Now we can all solve the problem ourselves. Here's all you have to do. If you have a recurring event, instead of CHANGING one such event on your device, ADD the same event with the appropriate notation. You will have "duplicates" but you will know which overrides the other. This is just a workaround, but I will definitely let the tech know what we are having to do to "fix" apple's bug which, to my knowledge, just started on Wednesday this week (ie Feb 6).

Thanks ApBear, your workaround gave me another idea:

Instead of DELETING a date for a recurring event, just CHANGE/RENAME it on the entry that is the exception. So for example, if I entered "Cardio Class" at 7:00AM every Thursday, but was going out of town and needed to cancel next week only, I could go in and CHANGE that one entry "No Cardio Class." I tried it and so far, so good. Did not disappear from any devices (yet).

My conclusion is that the "DELETE ONLY THIS EVENT" feature is not working properly, but the "CHANGE A REPEATING EVENT" feature is OK.

Seems ridiculous to have to enter events that we are NOT attending on the calendar, but for now that's what I will do. A workaround is a million times better than missing a meeting or forgetting to pick your kid up from a 1/2 day of school, but a true fix from Apple is what we need.

I migrated my calendars over from Google and they go back to 2009. Thanks for the workaround suggestion but in my case it would require me to go in, locate and recreate at least several dozen deleted events over 4 years.

As ApBear mentioned, this just started happening a few days ago. I've been using iCloud since its release in October, 2011 and never had any problems with single deletions in recurring events until then.

I'm just waiting for Apple to realize that something is seriously broken at iCloud.com and fix it.

Mine are still messed up...

As I said on the other thread... I really hope this gets fixed ASAP. I am a piano teacher and have 42 repeating events every week. I delete when a student cancels a lesson and then look at the calendar when I do the invoicing to know how many lessons to bill. The events look fine on my phone, but I need to be able to see them in monthly view on the web. I really don't want to have to install Outlook on my PC just to look at my calendar properly. I switched to iCloud from Google because I like their web interface more and it seemed less buggy!

This is driving me crazy as well. I talked to Applecare today and a few people said there were no problems. I also showed them this discussion in the forums and then I was told that there were not enough people complaining about this issue so therefore it isn't really a problem. So, in other words, Apple is NOT looking into this issue, and as far as they are concerned, everything is fine.

So where do we go from here? We all have to figure it out ourselves, or go to another service.

Question: I have many shared calendars - this problem only happened to me on shared calendars. Is anyone experiencing this problem have 1 and only 1 calendar (no shared calendars on icloud.com or their iphone?)

I'm really surprised at the the Apple people saying that not enough people are complaining.

This is really terribly annoying. I just went through the whole process of switching all my stuff to an iCloud account, notifying everyone of my new email address, etc. I trusted that an Apple system would be either flawless or that the customer service would at least be excellent.

Should have stuck with Google I guess???

This is a server end issue at iCloud.com and it started on or around February 6th. This is far from the only thread on these forums where people are reporting it.

It is extremely discouraging since there is no ETA nor any guarantees that once they DO fix it such problems won't reoccur. Apple is definitely having its issues with the cloud services. They should use some of their massive profits and hire over some Google engineers.

Since the calendars are still working on all of my iOS devices as well as on Mountain Lion when the Calendar app is running I've been putting up with it. I've asked a friend who is an Apple Phone support tech if he can flag it and elevate it as high as he possibly can.

Aside from that, we pretty much have only one option: wait.

I dont know wat to do either!! All i know is that ever since yesterday, wen i updated my Iphone4 to the latest software, my events from before a year ago ,are not showing up in the list.Only the ones from Feb12-present. & i defo had selected 'sync ALL EVENTS' in the settings before updating etc. Also hav u found that if u remember a date/event, that is lost now ,try gojng to it manually- by going all the way bak to the actual date. U will find that initially its not marked, but wen u click on it to see if anything is written ,it will *** up-& watever ur event was will be there, but then wen u go bak its not there again. That sed, it still wont be in the list -which is wat we need it to be.(cos obviously thats easiest way of seeing all ur important dates). I hav dates there that i always need to refer bak to, like even 3 years ago!(i hav them written somewhere else but its easy access on my iphone)Its defo an error on Apples part so theres no way im gona write all them events again-cos they are there somewhere-but theyre just not being listed nor do they *** up wen u search for them. I dont think anyone shud fiddle with their dates, there must be a sensible solution? Ps: can i stress that this only happened aftr i updated to new software?did it happen to anyone else like this?
