I couldn't agree with you more ! I got my 1st iPhone 5 for Christmas and I'm not impressed. I don't know what all the hype is. I'm so frustrated with trying to make custom ringtones especially since you have to go through a hundred freaking steps to do so even with any of the ringtone apps. Ridiculous. I thought all apple products synced flawlessly together. I never had any problems using any of my itunes as ringtones on my sony Xperia . It was flawless. The only reason I'm keeping this phone is because it was a gift from my Son. 1 step on Android equals 3 steps on IOS ! All we want is a simple process ! If it's not as easy as 1,2,3 I'm not interested ! LoL Even the apps I've wasted money on don't work ! Good luck to everyone having problems. I'm giving up because I'm afraid of losing everything on my itunes again !

I paid NZ$1300.00 for my iphone 5s thinking that it was going to be a better experience than my Android, Also read a lot of blogs telling me that all apps that are accessed through itunes work as apposed to those on the open market so to speak, Wrong !!! and as far as the term -- userfriendly goes, what a crock, I would like to think that the Apple people monitor this site but that might be asking a bit much, If a not very nice thing happens to my iphone in the next little while, Android -- Much more bang for my buck.

1. Download iTools (Available for mac and pc)

2.connect your iPhone to your computer

3. Trim the song you want to use to 30s

4. Export as Audio only.

5. Drag that quicktime audio to itunes

6. Select "create AAC version"

7. Show acc version in finder/windows explorer

8. Rename m4a to m4r

9.open iTools and select tones tab

10. Drag your tone and wait for it to finish.

Done! Hope that helps. You could also save music, videos, podcasts to your iphone that way without syncing. I did that because it was synced with my dad's mac, not my own.
