Where to file a complaint with Apple support for issues?

I've been havintg ALOT of issues as of late with my Macbook Pro. Let me start at the beginnig:

I took my Macbook in to the Apple store around December of last year, I was having an issue with the screen. When it was pushed back a bit too far, it would fizzle and fuzz like a tv out of focus, push it back more and the screen would go out. Harmless, simple problem to fix. Right? okay so fast forward about a day, I started having wireless issues, I thought nothing of it, and took it in. They looked at it, ran a couple tests on it, said that it was fine and that they couldn' t reproduce the problem, and they also stated that there may in fact be something wrong with the internet in my home. I thought okay maybe. Seeing as my husband and I actually work for the cable company so its next to no problem getting the modem replaced. Well about three modems and a complete rewiring of our house later, and I am still having the intermittent problems. Even once allowing for them to wipe my hard drive and reset the computer. I got it home and was having the same issues, so I'd gone ahead and upgraded to Mountain Lion. Last weekend, I was on the phone yet again with an Apple rep, and they are telling me the same old thing, they keep telling me that it had to be a wireless issue on my part, I'd made a point to let them know that was not the case.

After I got off of the call, something weird happened, my mouse pointer on the screen began to move accross the screen and select things and programs began to open on their own. The screen flipped to the Hub, where the clock, calender, notepad and Movie Ticker are, and opened up the reset and dictionary in Safari while also zooming in on the window, forcing me to hard reset the computer pretty much every 20 minutes or so. When I do this, the Silverlight preferences bar, pops up on the top of a blank screen. I was even at the Apple store when it happened.

All of the people that I have spoken to, have basically treated me like an idiot, and its getting pretty old, I spent almost 4 hours on the phone last night, after my call was escalated, I was on the phone so long that my cell phone died, and then my husbands phone died. I'd had the call escalated ALL the way to a superviser in Customer Relations. After dealing with this issue for three months, I finally lost my patience with it and asked them to replace it, to which the supervisor replied "If it is a software issue, replacing the computer will not fix the problem" Really? Because if I have a different computer I can safely assume that this issue will no longer exist for me, and I can get on with my education.

I am a student recieving veterans benefits to go to school, I have missed ALOT of school because of this issue, what should I do about it? After having my computer for three days, they sent it out to the national repair center for about another week. I informed them that as a student, I don't have a lot of time to fight this thing, I'm already on academic probation because this issue has not been fixed, and I am facing termination from my program as well as having to reimburse the VA for the money they have paid the school. I'm about to start losing money, as well as my education and I don't know what to do at this point. I feel like I have exasperated all of my resources at this time. I cannot afford to replace the computer myself, and this is becoming a ver frustrating situation.

Is there ANYONE else I can speak to about this issue as time is of the essence and I can't wait any longer.

Thanks in advanced.

I wasn't really posting this to get these things fixed, I just wanted to see if anyone here knew anybody who could help me with this issue that I'm having with the customer service. I'm all but exasperated by this and I spoke to the rep in charge of my case last night and he said that they were still not able to reproduce the issues I'm having, he'd also stated that in this case they do not repair nor do they replace the machine, I'd asked him, so that means that I am going to go and pick up my computer, have the same issue and just be stuck with a machine that doesnt work when I need it, and he said, "No of course not." I'm starting to find that I am hearing alot about what they aren't going to do than what they are going to do. I'm about to wash my hands of it all together and just buy a new Mac when my tax return comes in. Seems to be my only choice at this point.

Connection issue

The wifi expeeriences intermittent connection inturruption resulting in the loss of connection. The issue is only solvable by either shutting the computer down, and turning it back on, or a hard reset.

Interface Issue

The interface issue that I am having is the onscreen pointer for the machine is moving on its own, opening programs and tabs and at one point zooming in on my safari page. The computer also switched pages to the hub, that is on the computer, which is the page where if you swipe four fingers on the track pad, you go to a page that contains a calculator, the weather, a note pad and a clock. It has done this several times. Also when the computer is shutting down, the Silverlight preferences bar, appears at the top of a blank screen, and I am unable to close it.

I have the keyboard backlight set to never off and it flashes on and off as if I did not have it set to that.

If you need more details let me know, this has been going on since December.

So turn it off. System Preferences>Trackpad. Point & Click, Scrool & Zoom and More Gestures. Uncheck everything.

What modem? What router? What security protocol?

"Also when the computer is shutting down, the Silverlight preferences bar, appears at the top of a blank screen, and I am unable to close it."

Have you tried removing Silverlight from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder?

Wimsy, it's not uncommon for AppleCare to say "We can't duplicate your issue." I've been working with them on something else for a while now and it took 3 weeks of "We can't duplicate your problem." from the support rep and then the engineers behind them (which you can't talk to btw) before I got fed up and video taped the issue at hand. I sent them the video and the next day they were like "Oh, we see the issue now..." Idiots! It's like kindergarden over there.

Anyway, as for your issues. The wireless issue could be a problem I've run into when certain combinations of wireless chipsets and bad firmware (usually on the WIFI router manufacturer side) get together. The problem manifests as you remaining connected to WIFI, but you can't do anything (network traffic stops on the interface). Turning off WIFI and back on resolves the issue for a little bit of time. This tends to happen when you have a dual band router and are doing 802.11n on both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands at full speed. The fix is usually to drop the 2.4GHz band down to g/h (54Mbps) and just keep a/n speed on the 5GHz band. Note that disabling the 5GHz band altogether and just using the 2.4 at full speed still doesn't solve the issue. It's something with 2.4 and doing full 300Mbps speeds. Some users have been able to get away with dropping the speed to 130Mbps on the 2.4GHz radio and make it stable and others have had to drop it all the way down. Also, even some single band routers have needed to be dropped down from n to g speeds to maintain proper connect. I know this is stupid and defeats the purpose of the faster router speeds, but it's what fixes it. Try it and see if it helps. Generally speaking, I've seen this problem happen more when the WIFI routers have been Netgear ones.

As for your touchpad issues, is it possible that your wrists are somehow touching the pad while you're typing? To make sure that this isn't the cause of it, use something to cover the pad as a test while you're working and see what happens. If the problem is solved, pay close attention to when it does happen, WHAT SPECIFIC KEYS YOU'RE TYPING ON WHEN ALSO TOUCHING THE PAD. I've noticed that sometimes when I'm touching the pad and typing some of the keys in the middle of the keyboard that typing sometimes gets slow. I then have to click the pad once and move the cursor and then the problem goes away. It's very rare that it happens, but I think it's just a software bug in ML.

As for your keyboard backlight. There is no settings to keep it on all the time. There's just the checkmark to take away its ability to adjust with ambient light (which btw, if the room is too bright, it'll turn off the backlight automatically) and then there's the slidebar that turns the keyboard light off after a certain amount of inactivity/usage. If you want to maintain always on and always at a certain level, you need to set the slider to Never (which takes care of the inactvity timer) but ALSO uncheck the ambient light auto adjustment. You then have manual control over your backlight setting. Also, be aware that these customized settings are kept in PRAM settings, so if those files are botched in any way, a PRAM reset might get you fixed up if you haven't already tried that.

Give these suggestions a try and let us know what happens. Trust me, I feel your pain when it comes to AppleCare.

Alright so all of the things that you suggested are already things that I have tried, my husband is an IT professional and he walked me through the basic, and advanced trouble shooting steps, even went as far as taking silverlight off of the computer, we are still having the same issues, as far as the track pad is concerned, my hands are nowhere NEAR it when the cursor starts to do its insane ballet accross my screen, and the keyboard FLASHES, it doesn't just turn on and off, it looks like a keyboard rave., and turning it off doesnt stop it from happening, but for some reason they claim that there is nothing wrong with it. Again I didn't come here looking for advice on how to fix my computer, I just need help dealing with tech support at apple. thats all. I thank you for your help though. I don't currently have my computer, apple does.

You have a limited experience compared to the many folks who have been taken care of by having AppleCare. It's easy to bad mouth. Makes you into an anti-hero. Everybody's situation is different so to characterize and generalize as "painful" is misleading. It's much more productive to help the OP through the issues as you are now trying to do.

Hello sig,

I am sorry. It was not my intent to offend. Previously the email was firstname@domain. My remark was in reference to the change. I have had a positive experience with Apple for many years. Never a need to email higher up. We are fortunate to have two Apple stores in the area. One is just a few minutes from my home. Apple spoiled me for any other company.

My apologies.

Got My macbook pro back today, turns out the logic board was failing and it couldnt recognize the airport card, hence the intermittent internt issues, als they replace the upper assembly because I had some keys sticking, but those werent an issue to me. In short, I got a brand new computer when I went to pick it up today. A little complaint goes a long way.
