iWeb publishing nightmare

Hi everyone,

I just updated to iWeb 1.1 via software update, and now I can't publish anything to my .Mac page. I updated, and then made a new page (within my we site) in iWeb. I then pasted a long text-document from Pages in it, and hit Publish. It "created" the page, then said it would upload it. Well in the last step of uploading, I got an error saying "An error occurred while publishing file “/Web/Sites/iWeb/Site/Rotary-2006 files/DSC01793framed.png”."
That file path is pointing to a page (a photo album) that was already published, and had been on the web for a while. I haven't deleted any of the pictures associated with it, so I don't know why it's having a problem. But none of the pictures are in the .png format, so I think the _framed.png portion of that file path may be pointing to one of iWeb's template files.

I even tried removing that photo page and re-publishing, but then it picks another picture out of another page that, again, should not be affected with this uploading a new text-only page.

Any one had the same problem?

Thanks!

Ok, so when the page is red it does mean it did not update successfully. I tried to upload my site and got similar errors as reported on this string. When I did publish it, my main site was all distorted. Now, after trying again, it has reverted back to the old page but is still incredibly distorted. I guess I will have to try again tomorrow.

Jeez, I was so excited to finally have a fix to the comment issues with iWeb...I spent all night last night trying to get iComment to work (with no success). I thought I had it all figured out, but I guess not.

Boy, you (I am a relatively new user) Apple users are incredibly patient with all these glitches. If my iMac wasn't so pretty, it may have been thrown out the window by now!!! User uploaded file :-D

It turned into a mish mash of what alxalx said, but when I published my site, his comments were not yet posted.
I had previously published to a folder (for back-up purposes), then deleted everything from my iDisk as well as iWeb. I then went to Library>App.support>domain. Clicked on the domain file which in turn will return everything into iWeb that was deleted.
I hit "Publish", which forced iWeb to republish everything from the top, and it worked!
My technique had no head nor tail, I just tried a few things, but it worked.
I did notice on my .Mac front page that the counter evaporated, but it remains in my site's welcome page where it was nested. Then again, my 'welcome'page does not show up on my .Mac frontpage left column, which might explain the variance. I don't know what to do to make it show up again.
I must say that the actual publishing itself was quite fast, as advertised. And I'm finally pleased with the results. But I sure as heck ain't jeoperdising my luck by attempting to modify something and republishing again.

This is how I got it to work (note that I don’t keep
a local copy of my iDisk on my computer-i.e., iDisk
sync is turned off in my System Preferences).

1) In iWeb go to FILE > PUBLISH TO A FOLDER and
choose a location on your computer. Once the
exporting process is complete quit iWeb.

2) Open your iDisk and delete the old iWeb files that
have been previously published in the "iWeb" folder
(WEB > SITES >IWEB).

3) Copy the files that you exported from iWeb to the
same iDisk directory (WEB > SITES >iWEB).

4) Now you have to trick iWeb into believing that it
successfully completed the “Publish All to .Mac”
operation. First of all, make sure that iWeb is not
running. Go to your HOME directory > LIBRARY >
APPLICATION SUPPORT > iWEB, and you’ll find a file
called “Domain.” [MAKE SURE YOU CREATE A BACK-UP COPY
BEFORE PROCEEDING User uploaded file]. Control-click on the file
called “Domain” and choose “Show Package content.”
Look for a file called “PrePublishState.plist” and
delete it.

Alright, I'm trying it your way.. but I have questions.

1. The index.html file out side the iWeb Folder on iDisk. Do I delete it? I hope so cause I did...LOL

2. RSS Feeds Folder what should go in that folder? Will it just be updated when I run iWeb?

3. After you ran iWeb to update your website did all the features appear normally? (Comments, Search and Counter)

Same problems as most all of you have mentioned above (and yet another wierd twist) have happened to me and after reading this notes, I agree with the results - that even though there is an error message the new web, material is actually published without comments or functional searching... but an odd thing has happened after crashing many times - and I do not have a clue what caused it ---- my Mail program has gone hay wire User uploaded file Only a generic .Mac mail program remained --- all my accounts are gone! I have no clue what may have happened and don't remember it happening before. The only thing odd today was I "crashed" iWeb 3 or 4 times... It is likely that I checked my mail while iWeb was cooking (or rather smoking). Anyone know if this happens for any other known reason and is there a fix besides reconfiguring the Mail program?

jlizer, try to publish the old way again. Once you
get the error message save and close iWeb. It should
appear then (you'll need to make sure that iWeb is
closed, first).

Thanks. I found it after republishing and quitting iWeb. I trashed the .plist, reopened iWeb, everything appeared in blue (yeah).

However, I changed a small thing and republished. It went through the regular upload (popup window with progress bar) and appeared to be uploading pages I didn't change in addition to the one I did change. It finished the regular upload and began the background upload and got a little over half way through before giving me an error message. After the error message, only the page I changed was red. The rest were still blue.

Any ideas?
