Hi everyone,

I just updated to iWeb 1.1 via software update, and now I can't publish anything to my .Mac page. I updated, and then made a new page (within my we site) in iWeb. I then pasted a long text-document from Pages in it, and hit Publish. It "created" the page, then said it would upload it. Well in the last step of uploading, I got an error saying "An error occurred while publishing file “/Web/Sites/iWeb/Site/Rotary-2006 files/DSC01793framed.png”."
That file path is pointing to a page (a photo album) that was already published, and had been on the web for a while. I haven't deleted any of the pictures associated with it, so I don't know why it's having a problem. But none of the pictures are in the .png format, so I think the _framed.png portion of that file path may be pointing to one of iWeb's template files.

I even tried removing that photo page and re-publishing, but then it picks another picture out of another page that, again, should not be affected with this uploading a new text-only page.

Any one had the same problem?

Thanks!

Aaron Boatwright

I have experienced similar problems with iWeb since updating to, iWeb display's an error message saying it has been unable to publish a .jpg or .png

However, when I visit my blog the site has been sucessfully uploaded, however, iWeb's Site Organise pane does not reflect this (remains red, for unpublished).

I have posted a bug report to Apple via the iWeb feedback function but I haven't heard anything yet. Perhaps other people should to?

I publish a weekly video podcast and published a new episode today. I upgraded to iWeb 1.1 and found that iWeb went through and republished the whole site (140 MB) even though I clicked to publish only the changed parts.

Good news though, the whole site was republished without any errors. I'm in the UK and started to upload at what would be 4am Cupertino time. Can't help wondering if lots of the issues people are having could be related to problems with the .Mac servers.

I always download my podcast to iTunes after uploading to .Mac. Normally this takes at most 5 minutes (8Meg connection) but today it took nearer 20 minutes.

Finally got my site to re-publish yesterday... I used publish all to take advantage of the 1.1 optimization.

However, everything has changed to a .png! Including all my text, which was fine previously (everything except titles is in Arial). Very strange...

Since all text is now an image, it also renders the new search feature completely useless.

Also, the comment feature does not seem to work on my blog pages. At the end of each blog item, a link that says "@post" is inserted but does not take you anywhere to enter a comment (it simply reloads the page).

Check it out here: www.maitaionline.com

Republishing all a second time did not seem to help. Have a feeling I will have to make changes to each and every page on the site before re-publishing a third time for any changes to really take effect. Will keep you all posted...

What an inspiring web site Joe - clean, uncluttered, beautiful illustrations and photos, consistently laid out (which adds to its charm)! I felt compelled to send you a note - it's quite clear why you've won awards and have such major clients!

I hope you soon get the site running fully. Whats New returned an error message, also clicking on images did not enlarge the image. I have similar problems as posted by many users unfortunately.

Even though iWeb appears to fail in Publishing,
visiting the site online shows everything except
Search, Counter and Comments. Is this the case for
everyone else?

<snip>

My point is ... iWeb seems to be publishing the site
anyway.. just leaving off the new features. So you
may get the same results with the Manual method.

Jason,

I believe you're absolutely correct. With one important note: You have to leave iWeb running for a while, so it can invisibly finish uploading the site.

In trying to sort out this problem, I fired up Activity Monitor to watch the Network activity. It turns out that iWeb keeps on Publishing (for several minutes, in my case) after the error message. iWeb will also allow you to Quit during this time, which resulted in a partially-uploaded site.

Not knowing this, I spent over 8 hours yesterday trying to upload, over and over, and saw the same error messages as everyone else. I now believe that some errors, such as "Can't read iDisk info." are due to multiple uploads conflicting with each other.

The important point is, let the upload finish before quitting iWeb. iWeb will look like it's sitting there doing nothing, but it's pretty busy. It won't say when it's done; again Activity Monitor is useful for this. Once I started using this method, my mangled site cleared up, and even the files that iWeb reported errors with were fine, and would display larger images when clicked.

I do seem to have lost my Comments functionality. I don't use counters. The Search field is present, but it doesn't find text I know is in the blog.

Same exact problem...web pages that were just fine before upgrading to 1.1 now are having to be republished only to sit through that long process to get the error code....and, on reattempts (too many) it shows the same error code but mentions a different particular photo on a different page as the "culprit". This has to be a 1.1 issue....apple, help!

error message is:
Publish Error
And error occurred while publishing file "/Web/Sites/iWeb/.........."

iWeb 1.1 Updated everything just fine, AFTER:

Yesterday evening, I had the same problems with updating my iWeb site:
-Picture Error
after several other tries this morning
-iDisk space error

Then I started to copy the folder from my iDisk /web/sites/iWeb to the Desktop, deleted the iWeb folder on the iDisk.
After that, I synced my iDisk but after 20 seconds, abort the sync.
Next step: I copied the iWeb Folder back to the iDisk, in the same directory where it was.

And then, I started to sync my iDisk.
I waited a little time, then started iWeb applikation (everything was shown as "red - unpublished".
I made a complete upload to the .Mac account and:
Everything went smoothly, the site showed then fine and also, Comments were still there.

The problem musst come from one or maybe several files not correctly synched after the obligatory complete upload after installing Update 1.1 ...

Hope that helps,

kind regards,

Z-1
