open .pdf file in Word & "Convert File" Box appears...Weird.

Using my MacBook Pro, I click on a PDF file to open in Microsoft Word & an angry box appears that says "Convert File."

In the box it says: Convert file from: then it lists various file types i.e., Text only, MS-DOS Text, Rich Text Format, HTML Document, Single File Web Page, Unicode Text and many more.

It is trying to open a PDF file in Microsoft Word.

I can't figure out how to change so it opens!!!

I made the fancy document myself in Microsoft Word and saved it in PDF format on the same computer.

I am a new Mac user....so if you tell me to go somewhere (well, not anywhere..on the computer!); please be specific and help me get there!

I've tried the right click trick, open with trick...no luck. That's not even an option!

See -> Preview.app - Killer of PDF files.

I'm a daily user of Acrobat Pro XII and an advocate of Adobe Reader. Preview, as noted, can kill PDF files.

Thanks for that info -- was not aware of that issue, normally I only have to read stuff. Even for that I agree Adobe Reader is better than Preview in general.

Tom,

Preview is just a pain in the rear end for we who invest a lot of time and TLC in PDF forms, in particular. As the author shows, forms are destroyed by Preview, rendering usesless grabbing data, getting digital dignatures, etc., from PDF forms. Preview is OK if you're just reading a text file but if it's an interactive form - in any way - Preview just isn't up to the job.
