iPhone 5 not waking up! Have to press home/sleep button numerous times

If your iPhone has problems after a Restore with iTunes on your computer. Then make Genius reservation and take iPhone to Apple for evaluation. Any problems will be covered by Warranty.

I'm seeing the same problem on the two iPhones I purchased towards the end of September. It's happening more often now a days. I have 6.1.2 installed. Will try a restore again.

Hi, having the exact same problem as OP - iPhone 5, iOS 6.1.0. Can confirm same issue as in the video, happening quite frequently - three times in the past half hour. The phone is unresponsive for 10-15 seconds or more, during which pressing the home button or power button has no result.

I am having the exact same problem! It is happening more than it isn't and getting beyond ridiculous now! Does anyone from Apple have a solution for this?!

I am also having the same problem. It's definitely not the home button hardware issue, since it registers perfectly everytime when iPhone is awake. My problem happens once or twice a day and sometimes once every two days. I tried restoring the software as recommended when I called Apple but no success. I hope they release a fix for this soon...I suspect this is a software issue. When iPhone would not wake up, wait for 5 to 10 seconds before pressing home button again as continually pressing home button only lengthens the sleep duration time even longer. Strange...

I have the same problem and had my phone for only 4 days now! No apple store nearby, I need a software solution.

I did a complete reset this morning around 10am and it is currently 11pm where I am and all working. I backed up the phone, completely restored latest firmware (6.1.2) and synced content. I did not restore any settings which means you don't have any email accounts configured, event photos in camera roll copied across, any networks, ringtones saved, messages saved etc. despite losing all of my data (which I can recover from the backup if I really need it) it seems to have solved the problem.

Not particularly happy I have to start from scratch with photos and messages etc but think I would prefer the phone turning on when I want/need it to.

Hope this helps you guys, will update you if it starts playing up again! If it does, I will not be a happy bunny :(

Its great to see other people are having the same problem. I am also having this problem and a person sitting next to me is to. It seems to have stared at around the time of the last software update.

Please Fix it Apple.

Did anyone have this problem fixed? Its getting very annoying. Sometimes when I need to make an urgent call, the problem occurs. I feel like throwing the phone on the ground. Its occuring more frequently now.

Any help is appreciated.

I have been having the same problem. I have just held down the wake/sleep buttong and the home button to restart the phone. I've noticed that when I do that it takes longer than usual for the phone to reset 15-20 seconds. It usually happens when I charge the phone over night. I wake up and try to wake my phone up and there is just no response, so I have to to the reset.

+1 having same problem on my iPhone 5 (iOS 6.1.3). It started a few weeks ago and has slowly become more frequent - now happens around 3 times a day on average.

Surely it must be a software bug considering both the home button and power buttons fail to respond?

Anyway, hope Apple find the bug and squash it soon!
