iPhone 5 not waking up! Have to press home/sleep button numerous times

Hey Apple peoples

Does anyone have an issue w their iPhone 5 where pressing the home/sleep buttons does NOT wake up the phone in one press? I have only had mine since late Oct 2012 and several times a day it just decides to have an extended snooze. I have to hit the home button or sleep button numerous times before it kicks into gear. Mucho annoying!! Watch this short vid to see what I mean: http://www.flickr.com/photos/go_bombers/8489949001/in/photostream

Phone has been updated w latest software, backed up, restored...nothing will fix it so hoping someone out there has an answer!

Danke schon!

I am on sprint and this just started happening recently I can't imagine it's a hardware issue because the buttons work perfectly fine.when it wakes. I have noticed that when it does happens, it's recently after being on a phone call, although it may not be related. I hope it gets fixed soon. It is becoming troublesome and I don't live close enough to an apple store to go have them look at it (although I really don't think it's hardware related) I honestly think ts related to software and the iphone 5 specifically and can probably be fixed by a software update. I do NOT want to have to "start from fresh" as some have tried and it didn't help. I left android so I didn't have to do things like that every time I had issues .

I am on iOS 6.1.4 with an unlocked iPhone 5 currently using it on T-Mobile's network. I too have experienced the mentioned issue where the phone takes a longer snooze from time to time.

As others have pointed out, I do not think it is a hardware issue. I have restored my phone twice and both times have set it up as a new phone and the problem still persists. I even took it to Apple and they actually replaced the home button and screen for me and of course, the problem still happened.

I understand the issue with Vodaphone, but seeing as I am using it on t-mobile and the issue still occurs, could it be that it is in fact a software issue? Hopefully this will be fixed in iOS 7.

Same Issue here with my iphone 5 and my wife's. It's been happening for months now. Were both using vodaphone. Was all fine when I first bought the iphone, but somewhere in between then and now I performed a software update and that's where my trouble seemed to start. Would love to install the original IOS and road test this.

Finally went to appleshop today in Canberra regarding the issue and was asked if I was on Vodaphone. In aplles eyes it's vodaphone problem. The lady suggested to change to a different carrier. Too bad that a signed a 2 year contract. By the time this gets sorted my contract will be finished and I'll be in the market for a new phone.

Please sort this out now APPLE.

just get in touch with Vodafone (http://community.vodafone.com.au/t5/iOS-iPhone-and-iPad/iPhone-5-home-amp-lock-b uttons-unresponsive/td-p/218008/page/10) and they will put you in touch with an Apple engineer.

The vodafone people contacted me and connected me with an Apple engineer which guided me into sending them the phone's logs. After a few days the phone started working again (it gets slugglish sometimes, but it won't freeze like before)... maybe they have done an over the air update for my phone?

Anyways, iOS 7 is coming out soon...

I have a 32 gb iphone 5s running 7.0.4 and am having the same issue. the home button works fine in every aspect of how it should until it goes to sleep. Not just regular sleeps.. more like extended longer sleeps, often with a charger plugged in though it has happened without. I can press the home 100 times and the phone is off for all intensive purposes. If i press the power button there is no response but if i hold it as though i am turning it on it will boot up simple to the home screen but without any apple boot logos.

It happened once or twice since i got the phone but has happend four times in the last 24 hours. Apple care or not im getting irritated this will be my second exchange if it need replacing.

Get with it apple.. premium price for your product demands it function properly.
