I'm not convinced it is an Email problem. I've had all my account link to my iphone, including 2 exchange before the update and never had the battery drain. Never had the issue until update 6. I've killed every process, drained the battery, recharged completely from the wall, turned off all services, background processes, PAN hardware, WiFi hardware, cellular data, 3G, reinstalled the IOs and restored the iphone like every discussion claims to be the problem but no success. How is the iPhone draining with almost no processes running? Didn't reinstall any applications. I'm not even using the phone and it is still warm with rapid drain. I'm only fortunate to have an andriod for backup to make a phone call because after a few hours Iphone is dead completely when it was on standby. My iPhone is now just a paper weight until a patch or hotfix is available. Does anyone have a working solution? Thanks.

This was my lab all day:
Standard Config with 4 mail accounts (exchange, gmail, hotmail and icloud) and push enabled:
7:00 AM -> 99% battery
9:36 AM -> 47% battery (1% lost every 1,8 minutes)😢

Disable push and set Fetch every 15 minutes:
9:36 AM -> 47%
11:00 AM -> 39%. That was working! (1% lost every 10,3 minutes)😎

Then i charged the battery phone again to 99%, reboot the phone (On+Home) and enable push:
3:59 PM -> 99%
4:45 PM -> 89% This was better than the first state but not a good time (1% lost every 4,8 minutes)😮

Remove Exchange and reboot the phone:
4:50 PM -> 88%
5:24 PM -> 78% Worst! (1% lost every 3,4 minutes!)😠

Remove all the mail accounts, reboot (again) and reconfig all the accounts:
5:52 PM -> 73%
6:31 PM -> 67% (1% lost every 6,5 minutes) Not the best, but better. 🙂

I estimate that the final config have 10-11 hours of battery on standby
The best config without push can make 17 hours.

All the lab was executed with an iPhone 4S and the 6.1.2 version

The conclussion: Push is the responsible

you seem to know a lot, but you are very wrong in this case. This battery drain issue is directly related to recent IOS updates, it's documented all over the place and even acknowledged by Apple, that's why they released 6.1.2. I had battery drain on my iPad with 6.1.1, 6.1.2 fixed it. However now my iPhone, which was previously unaffected by 6.1.1, but upgraded to 6.1.2, is now draining battery in standby 10-15% every 20 minutes.

I know you thing that somehow this case is different and it really IS 6.1.2. If it is, however, why is my battery life unchanged with 6.1.2? And what about all of the people in these threads and messages over the past 5 years who just KNEW that the problem was whatever version they had just upgraded to?

I don't know if this solves other people's phone problems, but it totally worked for me. I deleted icloud, gmail, hotmail and exchange accounts, reset network settings, and then reinstalled all mail accounts with normal config (including push notification). This morning I was losing power 1% every 2 minutes on stanby--I timed it and got really really scared because my phone was essentially a paper weight when it wasn't plugged in--and now I am losing power 1% every 15-16 minutes. Incredible!! Thank you Lawrence.

I wish everyone else luck with your troubleshooting! I'm also going to recalibrate my battery tonight to see if there is increased improvement.

my phone was in ios 6.1 and the battery lasts a day. 2 days to be precise. a limit of texting.

A movie marathon = lasts 6 hours

music player = listening to music player at 12 AM GMT +8 @ 56% until woke up at 7 Am GTM +8 with 44%.

texting lasts more than a day.

Wifi = 3 hours or more.

wifi + online game = 1 hour or more.

also you should set as new phone during restore or upgrading since you have Icloud back ups.

I did it after I upgraded to ios 6.1. The battery became good than ios 5.1.1 (restored the back up from 4.3 that's why i have battery issues).

My 4s is doing good at 6.1.1 battery drain 1% every one hour on standby. With 3G active, wifi, bluetooth all is on. Several apps using location services and notifications. I have 3 mails (2 gmails and 1 yahoo). Also use iCloud for mail, contacts and find my iphone. From 100% full charge, it took about 8 hours standby to 99%. After that reduce 1% every hour on standby.

With iOS 6.1.2 it reduced 1% every 30-40 minutes. Getting worse although it's not to bad. The same condition wifi on, bluetooth, notifications, emails and location services. Now is 80% with 1 hour 27 minutes usage. Browsing, play games and download apps and standby 11 hours 55 minutes.
