6.1.2 Battery usage got worse!

I didn't have any problems with battery usage with 6.1.1 and loaded 6.1.2 and it's having the now infamous battery drain issue and running hot.

Possible helpful suggestion:

After trying all the resets, etc suggested and finding none made a difference, I tried shutting off my wi-fi and my Cellular Data. This stopped the battery drain and heating up altogether. But then I had no internet. So I was manually switching it back on and off as required and my battery was lasting. Obviously not the best answer. However, today I went to Settings/mail,contacts,calendars/fetch new data - i turned off push, changed fetch rate to hourly, and in advanced changed exchange to fetch (i don't use icloud, but if i did i guess i'd change that also).

Obviously this isn't the ultimately ideal answer and apple needs to fix the problem, but it's helped immensely. My battery now lasts all day again, rather than 2hrs and it's not getting hot). I don't know if it will work for everyone but it can't hurt to try??

Finally as a sideline, I am not sure why anyone would waste their time posting as useless a comment as "who knows but there are millions out there without ANY issues including me so work it out" so thanks for taking up a few seconds of my time that I will never get back.

The latest is update was designed to resolve the exchange issue and in my case it did not. I had to turn off my exchange mail account and the overheating and battery drain seemed to resolve itself.

Switching on and off your data access is a rather brute force method so I'd suggest you try simply disabling your exchange account(s)

Good luck

i have updated my iphone 4 to 6.1.2 and it has increased my battery life from 4-5 hours usage time to 7+. i dont see why people are having such a bad experience with this new software update. its worked fine for me. i used the software update through settings. try turning off imessage and facetime, it helped my battery to stop going down quicker!

Wow! You're battery is great lol. You must hardly use your phone by the looks of it lol. I'm a constant whatsapp user and safari user. Sometimes games.

My battery stayed at 100% on usage of 53 minutes and standby time 1 hour 1 minute. I'd upload the picture but currently using my iPhone and don't know how to upload it.

How do u use your phone to last that long?? Thanks

This update reminds me of the 5.0.x's in Dec. 2011 when the battery life went from good to gone. I'm having to charge up my 4S after I have any type of lengthy conversation b/c the battery will lose 20% per 30-45 min of talk time. So now my iPhone has turned into a legitimate landline, due to the fact that it has to be plugged in to talk for fear of the phone dying while I'm talking with an important person. This all started with the round of the 6.1.x updates, so in not sure what it is that they're doing in the background that's using up all the battery. My iPad 2 is doing alright, though, probably because it is just a wifi only device and not network enabled.

6.1.2 Battery usage got worse!
