Can't open Messages without getting "An internal Messages error occurred."

Hey,

I have tried to reinstall Mountain Lion 10.8.2 several times to try and get Messages working but with no luck at all, so I thought I would try and get some help here.

This is the error message I'm getting:

User uploaded file

What I've tried to do to fix this is:

Removed all .plist associated with Messages

com.apple.ichat.plist

com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist

com.apple.ichat.Jabber.plist

com.apple.ichat.Yahoo.plist

com.apple.ichat.Subnet.plist

com.apple.imagent.plist

com.apple.imessage.bag.plist and

com.apple.imservice.iMessage.plist

  • Tried adding Messages to the firewall.
  • Reinstalling Mountain Lion
  • Rebooting my computer
  • Repaired permissions for my SSD that I have Mountain Lion installed on.

This is what I get in Console when trying to launch Messages

Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.

Select My Processes from the menu in the toolbar of the Activity Monitor window, if not already selected. Enter "imagent" (without the quotes) in the "Filter" text field. Is a process with that name listed? If so, select it and click the Quit Process button in the toolbar. Click Force Quit in the sheet that drops down. Test Messages. Any change?

Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:

launchctl list | grep imagent

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C).

Launch the Terminal application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor.

Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).

The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.

Post any lines of output that appear below what you entered — the text, please, not a screenshot.

Hmm, really? I found imagent.app in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/IMCore.framework but that's probably not right, I tried touble clicking on it and get this in console when I do so:

2013-02-22 21:14:47,774 imagent[3509]: [Warning] IMDaemonMIGInterface auth port died: <IMDaemonMIGInterface: 0x7fe3c0611c80>

I first formatted my SSD then installed Mountain Lion.
