When using an external hard drive RAID which connection will provide the best performance for VIDEO EDITING?
I know USB 3 has up to 5Gbits/s but is it the best option when editing video?
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), 27 inch; 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5
Thanks, Tchamaco. Where did you get that information from?
Can anyone confirm what Tchamaco said?
Interesting reading and comprisons here:

Interesting read. I still have not seen anything as to if using FireWire 800 is better when editing video vs using USB 3.
Anyone else know?
Since your iMac dosen't and will not do USB 3.0, why do you need to know this?
FW800 drives are plenty fast enough for serious video work.
Much Faster than USB 2.0 which is what your iMac has, also.
Clever solution!
Firewire is faster. Especially for video editing. It doesn't require the CPU cycles to transfer data.

See what you make of this http://www.macworld.com/article/2039427/how-fast-is-usb-3-0-really-.html
Don, the Macworld link I posted above indicates different......very different. Their video testing indicates that USB 3.0 is twice as fast as FireWire 800 when working with video.
FireWire 800 vs USB 3?
